Ocon geniet van teamgenoot Alonso: "Ik geniet van onze samenwerking"

Het team van Alpine barst nog altijd van de ambities. Afgelopen weekend beleefde de Franse renstal een redelijk sterk weekend in Canada. Fernando Alonso schitterde in de kwalificatie als vanouds. De Spanjaard kwalificeerde zich als tweede maar beleefde daarna een lastige race vanwege motorproblemen en een tijdstraf.

Alonso kampt dit seizoen met een flinke portie pech, zijn teamgenoot Esteban Ocon is vooralsnog zeer sterk bezig. Ook in Montreal kwam de Fransman sterk voor de dag en kwam hij als zesde over de streep. Ocon staat momenteel op de negende plaats in het wereldkampioenschap, een plekje voor zijn teamgenoot Fernando Alonso.

Samenwerking

Het team van Alpine is dus bezig met een heel erg solide seizoen. Ocon voelt zich op zijn plek en is daarnaast ook zeer tevreden met zijn teamgenoot. In gesprek met DAZN is hij complimenteus: "Het is fantastisch om de teamgenoot van Fernando te zijn. Toen hij bij het team kwam zeiden veel mensen dat het lastig zou worden. Dat is niet echt de waarheid. Ik denk dat we een goed duo vormen en ik geniet van onze samenwerking."

Het is nog niet duidelijk of Alonso ook in 2023 actief zal zijn in de koningsklasse van de autosport. De Spanjaard heeft nog geen officiële contractverlenging gekregen maar Ocon weet wel wat er moet gebeuren. De Fransman is duidelijk: "Natuurlijk hoeft Fernando niets meer te bewijzen. Als hij door wil gaan in de Formule 1, dan blijft hij. Hij is nog steeds heel erg gemotiveerd en hij is de leeuw die hij altijd al is geweest."

Ik vermoed dat Ocon bij geen van de topteams hoog op hun lijstje staat.

Ocon is een constante factor. Beetje als Russel, maar Russell is dan wel echt top. Uiteraard heb ik meer met Alonso op. Hoewel die in de stand dik achter staat op Ocon vind ik Alonso echt veel beter.

  Ocon heeft misschien een beetje een slechte naam sinds dat akkefietje met Max jaren geleden . maar zo slecht doet Ocon het niet bij Alpine , ook bij het kwalificatieduel staat het 5-3 voor Alonso , dat gaat ook redelijk gelijk op

  Ik heb meer met het type rijder Alonso, maar dat wil niet zeggen dat Ocon qua niveau véél minder is. Dat is pure onzin, gebaseerd op gevoel ipv realiteit. Niet alleen dit seizoen maar ook vorig seizoen over de hele linie ontlopen ze elkaar heel weinig. Alleen de factor pech of geluk bepaald wie van de 2 er voor staat in de stand.
  Dat gezegd hebbende valt de prestatiecurve van Ocon me toch wat tegen, stagneert een beetje. De eerste seizoenen zag ik in hem wel een nieuwe toprijder, ook zijn mentaliteit beviel me meer dan goed.
  Nu vind ik hem een beetje 'saai' geworden, weinig spectaculaire uitschieters of grilligheden ofzo.

  Ocon heeft een lange lijst aan akkefietjes achter zijn naam staan van de juniorklassen en zelfs de karts.
  
  Bij Mercedes wilde ze m ook niet echt een kans geven naast Lewis voornamelijk vanwege zijn reputatie en hoe hij zich al binnen Mercedes opstelde.
  
  Hij lijkt nu wat gekalmeerd, al is dat ook misschien wel omdat Alonso hem wat getemd heeft.

  Ocon is al lang niet meer dat irritante pubertje. Bij mij is dat echter ook nooit een issue geweest. Zal natuurlijk ook een beetje onervarenheid bij Verstappen bij. Volgens mij hebben Verstappen enOcon het samen allang bijgelegd ook.
  Waar gehakt wordt vallen bomen.

  Ocon schijnt vooraf een mental coach gehad te hebben om tegen Alonso's mindgames op te kunnen boksen. Mss valt het mee omdat de hierarchie duidelijk is en ocon, itt eerder, respect heeft voor zijn teamgenoot.
  Duidelijk is wel dat alonso op zn oude dag nog steeds beter is dan ocon. Ocon is een een soort spookrijder, veel races zonder hem te zien
