Horner verklaart uitblijven statement Piquet: "Gevoel dat we dat al hadden gedaan met ontslag Vips"

Het team van Red Bull Racing heeft een roerige week achter de rug. Voorafgaand het Britse Grand Prix-weekend had men immers te maken met de racismerel rondom juniorcoureur Jüri Vips. De Est gebruikte tijdens een livestream het N-woord en werd daarop geschorst en later ontslagen door Red Bull.

Het ontslag van Vips viel samen met de andere racismerel die deze week speelde. Ook drievoudig wereldkampioen Nelson Piquet raakte in opspraak. De Braziliaan omschreef in een interview uit november Lewis Hamilton met het N-woord. De rel was groot en de meeste teams spraken hun steun aan Hamilton uit op sociale media. Alleen het team van Red Bull kwam niet met een statement over de Piquet-zaak.

Actie

In Silverstone besprak teambaas Christian Honrer de roerige week. De Brit meldde zich tussen de twee vrije trainingen bij zijn landgenoten van Sky Sports: "We hadden een zaak met één van onze junioren eind vorige week. We hebben zeer streng actie ondernomen toen hij een racistische opmerking maakte. We hebben hem direct uit het team verwijderd. We kwamen dus met een statement over Jüri naar buiten en toen kwam de zaak van Piquet aan het licht."

Statement

Horner benadrukt dat zijn team volledig achter Hamilton staat in de rel van afgelopen week. Ook laat de Brit weten dat men bij Red Bull het initiatief van de Hamilton Commissie steunt. Een statement over de Piquet-zaak vond Horner echter niet nodig: "We hadden het gevoel dat we al een zeer sterk statement hadden gemaakt door Jüri te ontslaan. Dat deden we omdat wij racisme of discriminatie in elke vorm niet tolereren."

Eigenlijk toevallig dat dit allemaal speelt vanuit het RedBull kamp.
Eerst Juri Vips en daarna "toevallig" de schoonpa van Max,ook weer RedBull.

Ik denk, nee, weet zeker dat ze de boel aan het opstoken zijn bij RedBull en Nelson laat zich met plezier slachtofferen........alles voor 't jong hé.
