Marko voorziet lastige race: "Inhalen is hier heel lastig"

Red Bull Racing zag er in Silverstone zeer sterk uit in de kwalificatie. Vooral Max Verstappen vloog over het natte Britse asfalt. De Nederlander leek op weg naar een dominante pole position, toch start hij vanmiddag als tweede. Verstappen werd in zijn laatste rondje namelijk gehinderd door gele vlaggen.

De gele vlaggen in de tweede sector werden veroorzaakt door Charles Leclerc. De Monegaskische Ferrari-coureur spinde maar kon al snel weer zijn weg vervolgen. De kortstondige gele vlaggen zorgden er dus voor dat Verstappen zijn rondje niet kon op volle snelheid kon voltooien en dat de pole een prooi werd voor Leclercs teamgenoot Carlos Sainz.

Dominant

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko baalt als een stekker van het mislopen van de pole. De Oostenrijker wijst vanzelfsprekend naar de gele vlaggen als de oorzaak. Bij Sky Sports spreekt Marko zich overduidelijk uit: "We waren echt zó dominant. Er werd met gele vlaggen gezwaaid dus we moesten wel van het gas gaan. Dat kostte ons de pole position in de derde sector van het circuit."

Inhalen

Verstappen begint de race vanaf de eerste startrij terwijl zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez als vierde start. Een goed resultaat is dus nog altijd mogelijk maar volgens Marko moet er dan helemaal niets misgaan: "Inhalen is hier erg lastig. We starten de race op de tweede en op de vierde plaats dus er is vanuit strategisch en tactisch oogpunt nog best wel veel mogelijk. Ik denk dat we qua racepace in elk geval sneller zullen zijn."

Marko leert eens wat rustiger te zijn. In de les geweest bij Toto? Max in de slipstream plus drs is er redelijk makkelijk voorbij. Je kan er ook op gokken met een pitstop door een undercut of hopen dat Sainz een foutje maakt. Er zou wel ook veel druk op hem liggen. Hij start de eerste keer van pole en heeft een grote kans om zijn eerste overwinning zijn. Hij zou er ook meer op gebrand zijn om zijn pole om te zetten in een overwinning omdat Charles dit jaar het maar weinig lukt.

lekker bezig. hier kan je juist wel inhalen, en de updates werken redelijk lijkt mij.
