Marko maakt zich geen zorgen over regen: "Wij hebben Verstappen"

Het team van Red Bull Racing moest gisteren in de eerste twee vrije trainingen de nodige tijd toegegeven op concurrent Ferrari. Men zal vandaag in de kwalificatie sterk voor de dag moeten komen in de kwalificatie in Hongarije. Iedereen is zich ervan bewust dat het een moeilijke dag kan worden.

Er wordt namelijk zeer veel neerslag verwacht in Hongarije. Dat kan voor een soort tombola gaan zorgen, veel regen is immers vaak een oorzaak van verrassingen. Veel teams hopen dan ook op hun kansen en er wordt druk geëxperimenteerd met allerlei set-ups voor de regen. Bij Red Bull doet men daar echter niet aan mee.

Klasse apart

Teamadviseur Helmut Marko laat namelijk weten dat men rekening houdt met een droge race. De Oostenrijker heeft daarnaast veel vertrouwen in zijn kopman Max Verstappen, zo laat hij weten aan de internationale media: "Het zal op zondag waarschijnlijk weer droog zijn. Wij gaan dan ook niet gokken met een afstelling voor de regen want wij hebben Verstappen. Hij is een klasse apart in de regen, zoals iedereen al weet."

Afstelling

Maar Marko weet ook dat een droge race voor problemen kan zorgen bij Red Bull. De concurrentie in de vorm van Ferrari ziet er zeer sterk uit en Marko is zich ervan bewust: "Op dit circuit is de afstelling zeer belangrijk. Maar zelfs als we door een natte kwalificatie vooraan mogen starten op een droge baan, dan zal dat ons niet gaan redden over een complete raceafstand op de zondag."

Hopend op regen op zondag, anders is het 'n baantje van niks.

De regen zorgt wel voor de nodige verrassingen, maar dat geldt natuurlijk voor alle andere banen.

  Idd hopen dat het zondag een regenrace wordt, regen is altijd goed voor de spanning. Een droge race hier valt vaak tegen, kans op treintje rijden is hier groot, dan is het allemaal, net niet.
