Sargeant maakt Formule1-debuut tijdens eerste vrije training Grand Prix Verenigde Staten

Williams Academy-rijder Logan Sargeant zal bij de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten in oktober dit jaar zijn officiële F1-debuut maken. Sargeant zal als deel van het ‘young drivers programme’ in de auto van Nicholas Latifi springen tijdens de eerste vrije training op het Circuit of the Americas.

Via de mediakanalen van Williams heeft het aangekondigd dat de Amerikaan notabene in eigen land zijn debuut in de Formule 1 mag maken. Sargeant laat weten zeer enthousiast te zijn over de speciale kans die hij aangeboden krijgt: “Ik ben ontzettend blij om deze kans te krijgen mijn eerste meters te maken tijdens de eerste vrije training in Austin. Om op de Amerikaanse Grand Prix de kans te krijgen is iets heel speciaals voor me. Ik ben Williams zeer dankbaar voor het vertrouwen en geloven in mij om zo goed mogelijk werk te leveren. Mijn doel is om zoveel mogelijk te leren van de nieuwste generatie (F1) auto’s. Ik kijk er naar uit om veel te leren en om ervan te genieten”, luidt zijn statement op de website van Williams.

Als je op een vrije training meer dan 100KM maakt krijg je ook een extra punt. Hij zou dus nog wat trainingen van Latifi kunnen overnemen.

20 superlicentie punten van 2020 F3
7 voor 2021 F3 (maar een slecht team)
nog 13 nodig dus P5 in F2 is voldoende. Zou de sport goed doen om een Amerikaan via de europese ladder in F1 te zien arriveren.

Kan Logan niet gewoon na de zomerstop de plek van Latifi overnemen. Doet het in de F2 goed dit jaar en een F1 rijder uit Amerika is denk geen verkeerde ontwikkeling.
