McLaren ontvangt boete na unsafe release in kwalificatie

Het team van McLaren kende gisteren een ongelukkige kwalificatie in Zandvoort. Daniel Ricciardo viel op een pijnlijke manier af in Q1. Zijn teamgenoot Lando Norris deed het veel beter en kwalificeerde zich als zevende. Toch mocht de Brit zich na afloop melden bij de stewards.

Norris werd in Q1 namelijk op een gevaarlijke wijze de baan opgestuurd door zijn team. Vroeg in de eerste kwalificatiesessie werd hij zijn pitbox uit gedirigeerd door zijn team. Dit gebeurde echter op een onveilige manier, Yuki Tsunoda moest keihard remmen om een ongeval te voorkomen. De stewards hoefden dan ook niet lang na te denken over een straf. McLaren kreeg namelijk een boete van 5000 euro voor de unsafe release.
