Häkkinen ziet in Perez de perfecte teamgenoot voor Verstappen

Sergio Perez reist met een goed gevoel af naar Japan. De Mexicaanse Red Bull Racing-coureur won afgelopen weekend de Grand Prix van Singapore en gaf daarmee ook een nieuwe boost aan zijn zelfvertrouwen. Perez ontvangt veel complimenten en ook bijvoorbeeld Mika Häkkinen is lovend over de Mexicaan.

Perez maakte afgelopen weekend in Singapore zeer veel indruk met zijn optreden. Hij greep bij de start direct de leiding en deze gaf hij niet meer uit handen, zelfs niet na een tijdstraf. Perez was tevens de vooruitgeschoven pion van Red Bull aangezien Max Verstappen niet kon meevechten voor de zege. De Nederlander kende een weekend vol fouten en blunders.

Volgens tweevoudig wereldkampioen Mika Häkkinen liet Perez precies zien waarom men heeft aangetrokken. In zijn column voor Unibet spreekt Häkkinen zich uit: "Checo heeft briljant werk geleverd voor Red Bull. Dit was een perfecte race. Hij nam bij de start de leiding over van Leclerc, hij controleerde de race en maakte geen fouten. Hij bezorgde het team de zege. Wanneer Max niet wint staat Checo klaar om in te springen. Dit was zijn tweede zege van het jaar en herinnert iedereen eraan waarom hij de perfecte teamgenoot is voor Max."

Nou, volgens mij maakte hij wel fouten Mika (met de SC), maar gelukkig voor hem was de straf mild.
