Marko verwacht direct leidende rol van De Vries

Gisteren werd het eindelijk officieel: Nyck De Vries rijdt vanaf aankomend jaar voor AlphaTauri. De Vries wordt de opvolger van Pierre Gasly die op zijn beurt overstapt naar het team van Alpine. De Vries ontvangt veel lovende boodschappen en ook Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko verwacht veel van de Nederlander.

Het nieuws over de transfer van De Vries hing al geruime tijd in de lucht. De Nederlander stond in de spotlight na zijn spetterende invaldebuut bij Williams in Italië. Hij had meerdere aanbiedingen gekregen en naast AlphaTauri spraken ook Williams en Alpine hun interesse uit. De keuze viel dus op AlphaTauri en daar zijn de verwachtingen hoog.

Bij AlphaTauri wordt De Vries aankomend seizoen de teamgenoot van Yuki Tsunoda. De Japanner begint volgend jaar aan zijn derde seizoen in de Formule 1. Marko denkt dat De Vries direct leidend kan zijn en spreekt zich uit tegenover Motorsport.com: "Absoluut. Yuki is nog jong en hij heeft die ervaring op technisch vlak niet. Nyck kan het team dus leiden. We zullen zien hoe het volgend jaar in de praktijk zal gaan. Maar afgaande op zijn ervaringen en zijn persoonlijkheid zou Nyck de teamleider moeten zijn."

    Perkins verwacht dat Tsunoda in de eerste vt van 2023 de leidende rol zal pakken en dat De Vries die rol daarna voor de rest van het seizoen zal overnemen…

    Hopelijk kan Nyck deze hoge verwachtingen waarmaken anders wordt het een kort F1 avontuur.

      Als ik heel eerlijk ben verwacht ik niet een hele lange F1 carrière voor Nyck. Maar dat maakt niet uit. Hij verdient de kans om z'n kunsten te tonen in de F1 en die kans krijgt hij nu, bij een degelijk team waar heel wat mogelijk is. Het is nu aan hem om te tonen wat hij waard is.

      Ik ben van dezelfde mening als hierboven. Nyck heeft het geluk gehad dat zijn invalbeurt in Monza was. Ik wil toch eens zien hoe hij het doet op andere tracks. Uiteraard wel leuk om zo'n kans te krijgen , hij zal het nu moeten waarmaken. Hopenlijk ben ik mis.

    Ik verwacht wel dat hij het goed gaat doen, hij heeft inmiddels best wat kennis van het reilen en zeilen en heeft denk ik achter de schermen bij Mercedes ook veel geleerd.
    Een jaartje wennen zal er niet in zitten, hij zal direct moeten leveren.
