'Verstappen bracht laatste bezoek aan Mateschitz in Auhof am Wolfgangsee'

Dietrich Mateschitz weigerde een agressieve behandeling tegen kanker en besloot in plaats daarvan zijn laatste dagen door te brengen in de idyllische omgeving van Auhof am Wolfgangsee. Dat beweert de Oostenrijkse krant Kronen Zeitung, te midden van speculaties dat de overleden 78-jarige Red Bull-magnaat de laatste 18 maanden van zijn leven ziek is geweest met terminale alvleesklierkanker.

Correspondent Hans Peter Hasenohrl: "Toen het onvermijdelijke einde duidelijk werd, wilde hij niet meer terug naar de kliniek. Hij aanvaardde zijn lot en verhuisde naar Auhof am Wolfgangsee, dat hij enkele jaren geleden verwierf. Een lange oever van het meer, dicht bos rondom, een prachtig uitzicht op de golven en de bergen rond de Bleckwand berg."

"Het naastgelegen hotel Landhaus zu Appesbach hotel was in stijl gerenoveerd - het eten kwam daar vandaan", voegde Hasenohrl eraan toe. "Artsen zorgden voor de patiënt."

De krant zegt dat wereldkampioen Max Verstappen onlangs zijn laatste bezoek bracht aan de inmiddels overleden Oostenrijkse miljardair in Auhof am Wolfgangsee. Hasenohrl: "Alles gebeurde in strikte geheimhouding, omdat de media al over de ziekte speculeerden. Mateschitz stierf in Auhof am Wolfgansee, waar in de zomer de beste klifduikers ter wereld zich van de steile Falkensteinwand wierpen. Waar de Alpha Jets dampstaarten in de lucht trokken. Waar helikopters salto's maakten voor duizenden toeschouwers. Waar Didi landde in zijn kleine watervliegtuig of per boot naar zijn dierbaren direct aan de kust."

Max is gisteravond na de race alleen naar Monaco gevlogen, Kelly vrijdag vanuit Mexico alleen naar Brazilië.
Vorige keer gingen ze samen naar Brazilië. Ik hoop dat hij terug is gegaan om de begrafenis bij te kunnen wonen, samen met mensen van de beide Red Bull teams om waardig afscheid van hem te kunnen nemen.

  Max is vandaag weer in Milton Keynes voor de sim, wat hij altijd op de donderdag na de race doet. Hij is nog niet in Salzburg of elders geweest.

Nieuwsgierig als ik ben, de locatie ff opgezocht in Google Maps.. Inderdaad geen verkeerd optrekje zo aan het water en heel mooi uitzicht over het meer en de bergen aan de overkant..
