Szafnauer teleurgesteld in Ocon en Alonso na sprint-incident

Het team van Alpine kende gisteren een zeer teleurstellende sprint in Brazilië. Fernando Alonso en Esteban Ocon raakte elkaar in de eerste ronde. Alonso moest de pits opzoeken vanwege een kapotte voorvleugel en Ocon viel ver terug met schade. Teambaas Otmar Szafnauer was na afloop niet bepaald te spreken over zijn coureurs.

Alonso en Ocon raakten elkaar in de eerste ronde waarna de Spanjaard in woede uitbarstte op de boordradio. De stewards gingen echter niet mee in zijn uitleg en gaven hem een tijdstraf van vijf seconden na de sprint. Alonso kwam als vijftiende over de streep terwijl Ocon als achttiende over de finishlijn kwam. Alonso ontving de straf voor een tweede incident op het rechte stuk.

Teleurgesteld

Alpine-teambaas Otmar Szafnauer was niet bepaald tevreden met het resultaat en het gedrag van zijn coureurs. Szafnauer sprak zich na afloop uit bij RaceFans: "We zijn extreem teleurgesteld met het resultaat van de sprint van vandaag. Dat heeft ons in een enorm slechte positie gebracht voor de race van morgen. We bevinden ons in een close gevecht voor de vierde plaats. Dat is een doel waar meer dan 1000 mensen keihard voor werken. Esteban en Fernando moeten beter hun best doen om ieder te complimenteren door elkaar niet te raken."

Verwachtingen

Szafnauer wil dat de coureurs zich vandaag in de Grand Prix beter gaan gedragen. De teambaas hoopt dat Alonso en Ocon zich beter gaan gedragen in de race van vandaag. Szafnauer is er nogal duidelijk over na de sprint: "Allebei de coureurs hebben ons vandaag laten vallen. Ik verwacht morgen meer van hen, we moeten er alles aan doen om toch nog een paar punten te pakken voor het kampioenschap."

2e ben ik met je eens. 1e liet ocon hem redelijk breed uitlopen wetende dat alonso er zat, Alonso op de kerb krijgt onder/overstuur en hoekt in ocon. Tja je hebt een verdedigende lijn maar het is je teammaat en heb samen elk punt nodig.

Ik vind beide incidenten 100 procent de schuld van Alonso. Bij het eerste incident verloor hij de controle over zijn wagen. Incident twee blijft hij te lang in de slipstream en gaat hij te laat naar rechts Ocon deed niets anders dan recht vooruit rijden.

  Beide coureurs zijn haantjes eerste klas maar waar ik alonso nog wel eens hoor en zie in team belang (hongarije 2021 overwinning ocon, breed houden) zie ik toch meermaals ocon die teamgenoten beukt ( perez spa baku, alonso hongarije bij start en nu) en dan vergeet ik er vast nog wel een paar.   Niet mee eens Skimi. Bij het aanremmen voor bocht 4 zit Ocon met zijn voorwiel ten hoogte van het achterwiel van Sainz. Doordat Sainz aan de buitenkant zit, moet Ocon aan de binnenkant krapper insturen, waardoor hij automatisch wijder uit gaat komen.
  Alonso zit bij het aanremmen voor bocht 4 zeker niet significant naast Ocon en besluit bij het ingaan van de bocht minimaal gas bij te geven om enigszins naast Ocon te komen.
  
  Wat mij betreft legt Alonso zichzelf op de 'penaltystip'. Hij duikt om te beginnen in een gat aan de buitenkant dat logischerwijs altijd gaat verdwijnen (zou de meest ervaren F1 coureur allertijden toch wel moeten weten), terwijl er ook gewoon geen mogelijkheid was er significant naast te komen. En dat doe je dan ook nog eens bij je teamgenoot met alle risico van dien. Het had makkelijk daar al een lekke band voor Ocon kunnen opleveren en een nieuwe vleugel voor Alonso.

  Beide gevallen Alonso fout. Alonso rijdt lang genoeg mee om te weten dat je in bocht 4 naar buiten gedrukt gat worden. Iedere coureur doet dat daar ook en logisch ook. En daarbij hield Ocon netjes de racelijn aan en drukte hem niet overdreven naar buiten. Tweede incident is duidelijk, daar is geen speld tussen te krijgen.

Krijg steeds meer de indruk dat Szafnauer niet meer serieus wordt genomen en hij nu ook weer wordt gepiepeld.
Ocon en Alonso willen beiden als beste Alpine-coureur in de eindstand eindigen, dat is voor hen het enige dat telt...
