Norris hoopt dat stewards meer gaan kijken naar perspectief van de coureurs

Lando Norris werd afgelopen weekend in Brazilië bestraft vanwege een incident met Ferrari-coureur Charles Leclerc. De twee coureurs raakten elkaar na de eerste herstart en Leclerc raakte daardoor de muur. Norris was het niet eens met zijn straf en hoopt dat er in de toekomst meer naar het oogpunt van de coureurs wordt gekeken.

De stewards gaven Norris in Brazilië een tijdstraf van vijf seconden. Men oordeelde dat de Britse McLaren-coureur de schuldige was in het incident. Vanzelfsprekend was Norris het daar zelf niet mee eens. Hij kon in Sao Paulo de verloren tijd van de tijdstraf niet meer goed maken aangezien hij later uitviel.

Norris is nog steeds van mening dat elke coureur een soortgelijke inhaalactie had ingezet in zijn situatie. Hij hoopt dan ook dat er in de toekomst meer oud-coureurs onderdeel worden van de stewards. Bij The Race spreekt hij zich uit: "Kijken ze alleen naar het incident vanuit het perspectief van een outboard camera en zeggen ze dan wie de crash heeft veroorzaakt of begrijpen ze dit echt. Kijken ze bijvoorbeeld of ik er alles aan heb gedaan om een crash te voorkomen? Er moeten meer coureurs bijkomen die mijn positie of de positie van Charles begrijpen."

      Niet helemaal. Hoeveel scheidsrechters hebben in het voetbal ervaring als profvoetballers?

      De één moet goed kunnen uitvoeren, de volgende goed kunnen rechtspreken of scheidsrechteren. En een derde moet met passende wetgeving / spelregels komen.

      Net zoals je politici, bestuurders en juristen hebt in het overheidswezen, zo heb je in de sport atleten, scheidsrechters en sportbestuurders. En dat hoeft echt niet in elkaar over te vloeien. Sterker nog, zo onafhankelijk als het kan van elkaar laten functioneren, anders wordt corrupt en valsspelerij..., vind ik.

      Dat hebben ze dus wel gedaan, er zit er elke race 1 bij, en daar wordt nog steeds over geluld naar partijdigheid toe. En eigenlijk hebben ze ook nog nooit veel toegevoegd.

      De meest trieste straf blijft die van Schumacher in Monaco 2010, waar ie een volledig legaal inhaalmanoeuvre deed en door Damon Hill zijn toedoen bestraft werd.

    Het zijn altijd de bestraften die klagen dat de straf onterecht was. Als Hamilton, Magnussen en Leclerc nou geklaagd hadden.
