Ocon blijer met seizoen 2022 dat met seizoen 2021

Esteban Ocon kende dit jaar een zeer solide seizoen in de Formule 1. De Franse Alpine-coureur sloot het seizoen af op de achtste plaats in het wereldkampioenschap en daar was hij zelf zeer tevreden mee. Ocon durft zelfs te stellen dat zijn 2022-seizoen beter was dan zijn 2021-seizoen.

Ocon eindigde dit jaar niet op het podium maar was alsnog zeer tevreden met zijn seizoen waarin hij in het wereldkampioenschap eindigde voor zijn teamgenoot Fernando Alonso. In tegenstelling tot Alonso had Ocon dit jaar geen last van betrouwbaarheidsproblemen en eindigde hij regelmatig in de punten. Het zorgde voor veel tevredenheid bij de Franse coureur.

Completer jaar

Alhoewel hij dit jaar geen race won, in 2021 won hij tot ieders verrassing in Hongarije, vindt Ocon zijn seizoen completer dan een jaar eerder. Bij Motorsport.com spreekt hij zich uit: "Het enige dat dit jaar miste was een podium. Door omstandigheden is dat niet gelukt maar misschien krijgen we volgend seizoen een kans. Alle doelen zijn behaald. We werden vierde in het wereldkampioenschap en qua punten had ik er nog nooit zoveel gescoord. Ik ben daar blij om. Het team heeft goed werk verricht met de ontwikkeling van de auto. Het gat werd steeds kleiner en hopelijk wordt dan in 2023 nog kleiner."

Ocon eindigde dus ook voor zijn teamgenoot Alonso in het wereldkampioenschap en dat was voor velen een verrassing. Ocon was er stiekem best wel tevreden mee: "Ik had ook wel wat problemen maar om eerlijk te zijn voelt het best goed. Hij is heel erg snel en ik moest hier eigenlijk ontzettend hard voor werken. Het geeft eigenlijk wel wat genoegdoening om voor hem te eindigen."

Enige reden waarom Alonso achter jou is geëindigd is de gigantische onbetrouwbaarheid van zijn auto. Zonder dat was je op een hoopje gereden door een 41 jarige.

Dit seizoen was dan ook de eerste en enige keer in de F1 carriere van Alonso dat zijn teamgenoot met meer punten was geeindigt in het kapioenschap.
Enkel Hamilton wist als teamgenoot het seizoen ooit met een gelijk aantal punten als Alonso te finishen, dus Ocon heeft dat dus beduidend beter gedaan.

  Alonso viel wel veel meer uit met pech maar dat zie je niet terug in de statstieken. Fijn dat dat Ocon er genoegdoening uit haalt dat hij door andermans pech voor Alonso is geeindigd...Ocon herft herft zo niet de gun factor

  Idd en Trulli had volgens mij ook meer punten in 2004 toen hij uit het team werd gezet. Maar over hele periode als teamgenoten hadden Button en Trulli minder punten idd. Tarso Marquez versloeg Alonso overigens ook een heel seizoen, met evenveel punten (0), maar een beter beste resultaat.

Heeft iemand anders ook vaak de indruk dat Ocon veel tekenen heeft van zon schijnheilig achter de ellebogen ventje...

Hij doet mij qua gedrag echt aan een aantal mensen denken waar ik slechte ervaringen mee heb en die ik graag op afstand houd.

  kun je je dit topic nog herinneren "Verstappen finisht met afstand op beste gemiddelde positie in 2022"
  Alonso finishte op 8.2 en Ocon op 8.0. En daar wordt alleen maar me genomen wanneer je finisht
  Ben ook geen fan van Ocon maar op een hoopje is echt behoorlijk overdreven

Beetje raar om trots te zijn op het gebrek aan betrouwbaarheid bij je teamgenoot.

Op zich ben ik een voorstander van positief denken maar dit gaat best ver.
