Häkkinen fan van groeiend aantal stratencircuits: "Zorgt voor meer uitdaging"

De Formule 1-kalender kent steeds meer stratencircuits. In de afgelopen jaren zijn onder andere stratencircuits in Bakoe en Miami toegevoegd aan de kalender. Aankomend seizoen wordt er ook gereden op een gloednieuw stratencircuit in Las Vegas. Niet iedereen is dol op de stratencircuits, Mika Häkkinen is echter een groot fan.

Op de Formule 1-kalender stonden in de afgelopen jaren naast Monaco en Singapore niet extreem veel stratencircuits. In de afgelopen seizoenen is dit echter veranderd, naast Bakoe en Miami kwam er bijvoorbeeld ook een Grand Prix in de straten van het Saoedische Jeddah bij. Niet iedereen is fan van het groeiende aantal stratencircuits op de kalender.

Tweevoudig wereldkampioen Mika Häkkinen is echter één van grootste voorstanders van het toenemende aantal stratencircuits. De Finse oud-coureur steekt dat niet onder stoelen of banken in gesprek met Top Gear Magazine: "De Formule 1 is een luxe business, mensen kunnen genieten van deze bijzondere sfeer. Ik denk dan ook dat het briljant is om te racen in steden. Het zorgt voor meer uitdaging voor de teams en de coureurs. De coureurs worden betaald om dit soort uitdagingen aan te gaan, ze zorgen voor een grote show voor de fans. Ze gaan er altijd vol voor."

      Häkkinen vindt het dus prima als de F1 om te bezoeken steeds meer exclusief voor de rijken der aarde wordt die zich alle luxe kunnen veroorloven. Zum kotzen!

      Wellicht kun je wat aan je (selectieve) leesvaardigheid doen @Axel...
      En Häkkinen verblijdt 'ons' m.i. al minstens een jaar met open deuren en abjecte meningen.

      Als coureur kon ik enorm van zijn races genieten.

      Häkkinen heeft blijkbaar een andere kijk op Formule1 en daar ga ik hen echt niet op afserveren.

    De huidige generatie 'stratencircuits' hebben uitloopstroken nog groter dan bv Spa en vaak een vlakkere asvaltlaag dan een biljarttafel.. Ik schaar deze dan ook niet onder wat men noemt 'stratencircuits' en zie dan ook niet de uitdaging die daarbij past.
