Brown verwacht veel van Norris: "Hij is een echte franchise driver"

Lando Norris is inmiddels al enkele seizoenen de kopman van het team van McLaren. De jonge Brit liet in de afgelopen jaren veel sterke dingen zien, maar een zege zat er nog niet in. Bij McLaren is het vertrouwen in Norris echter zeer groot, Zak Brown is zelfs van mening dat hij in alle situaties mee zal vechten vooraan het veld.

Norris debuteerde in 2019 in de Formule 1 bij McLaren. De Britse coureur veranderde daarna van een veelbelovend talent naar een vaste waarde. Norris reed vooral in 2021 zeer sterk en eindigde sinds 2020 elk seizoen op het podium. Een zege ontbreekt nog op zijn palmares maar het is de verwachting dat dit niet lang uit zal blijven.

McLaren CEO Zak Brown is van mening dat zijn Britse coureur één van de beste coureurs van het moment is. De Amerikaanse CEO steekt zijn enthousiasme niet onder stoelen of banken in gesprek met ESPN: "Lando is een echte franchise driver. Lando is één van die mensen die je bij een race met alle Formule 1-coureurs in bijvoorbeeld buggy's, altijd vooraan zal rijden. Dat komt simpelweg door het feit dat hij beschikt over enorm veel natuurlijk talent."

      Ik denk, maar weet dit niet zeker 🤨, dat Zak hier bedoelt dat Lando nog lang verbonden aan McLaren zal blijven en dat dus de gehele McLaren F1 franchise om Lando 'heen gebouwd' zal worden. Misschien zoals met Lewis en Benz het geval is?

    Ik roep het al een een jaar of 2: Norris is tijd aan het verdoen in het middenveld. Hij heeft imo een verkeerde route genomen waardoor hij nu vastzit bij een team wat allang geen topteam meer is. Elk jaar dat hij langer bij McLaren blijft wordt de kans groter dat nieuw talent Norris gaat doen vergeten.

      Waar moet hij dan naar toe, bij de topteams moet hij 2e viool spelen.
      En bij de andere is hij nog slechter af dan waar hij nu zit.

      FredericS, hij had in iedergeval geen 5 jarig contract moeten tekenen bij een middenveld team. F1 is niet voor bange mensen, als je een supertalent bent dan moet je altijd de strijd aangaan met een Hamilton of Verstappen. 2e coureur bij een topteam is altijd nog beter dan je tijd verdoen in het middenveld tot je 30e terwijl jouw generatiegenoten de zeges en kampioenschappen aaneen reigen.

      @Bullshit, als Max het in 2028 welletjes vindt, kan Lando bij Red Bull aanschuiven. Of al eerder Hamilton vervangen bij Mercedes als Toto dat aandurft.

    Hij zit daar verkeerd, vond hem afgelopen seizoen onzichtbaar en dat is precies wat er met hem gebeurd als ie daar blijft.

      Volgens mij heeft Steiner wel iets, een soort van, min of meer, in die richting gezegd toen Mazepin en Schumacher aan hun eerste seizoen begonnen in een bagger Haas.
