Norris hekelt werkwijze opstapklassen: "Shocking om dat te zien"

De Formule 2 en de Formule 3 vormen momenteel de hoogste opstapklassen richting de Formule 1. In de afgelopen jaren hebben veel coureurs geprobeerd om via deze klassen de koningsklasse van de autosport te bereiken. Lando Norris is het niet eens met deze structuur, hij roept op tot verandering.

De Formule 2 en de Formule 3 rijden hun races in het voorprogramma van de Formule 1. Bij vrijwel elk Grand Prix-weekend rijden de junioren hun races in het voorprogramma, ze krijgen echter wel veel minder tracktime. Daarnaast moeten de getalenteerde coureurs ook veel geld meebrengen om hun zitje te kunnen financieren bij de teams.

McLaren-coureur Lando Norris is het niet eens met de manier waarop de Formule 2 en de Formule 3 momenteel functioneren. Hij vindt de klassen te duur en wordt geciteerd door Motorsportweek: "Het is shocking om te zien hoeveel geld je moet uitgeven voordat je de Formule 1 kan bereiken. Je moet ze meer tracktime geven en meer setjes banden in de training. Ze hebben maar één setje banden voor VT1. Ze hebben trouwens ook maar één training, dat is verschrikkelijk. Het zou goed zijn als ze meer tracktime krijgen."

    Nou moe!! Onlangs was hij het nog eens met Domenicali dat 3 VT's niet nodig zijn,
    want in de F2 en F3 hebben ze er maar één en dat was daar voldoende en is voor de F1
    dus ook meer dan genoeg, aldus Lando.

      Volgens mij was dat laatste Russell, en ook daar stelt hij dat opstapklasses meer zouden moeten krijgen:

      "Naar mijn mening is het niet logisch dat de trainingssessies van de Formule 1 drie keer langer dan de F2 en F3-categorieën zijn. Juist zij zouden degenen moeten zijn die meer tijd krijgen, deels omdat ze minder races hebben en dus minder kunnen oefenen. "

      Tracktime is het sleutelwoord, 2 uur en 40 min is dat voor F3 coureurs. F1 coureurs met bakken meer aan ervaring zitten op meer dan het dubbele per weekend.
