Sargeant heeft niet stilgezeten: "Het zijn lange drie weken geweest"

Het stratencircuit van Bakoe is geen onbekend terrein voor Williams-coureur Logan Sargeant, maar wel achter het stuur van een F1-bolide. De Amerikaanse rookie heeft er ieder geval veel zin om in Azerbeidzjan weer te gaan racen.

"Ik ben super enthousiast om dit weekend in Bakoe weer in de auto te stappen", zei de 22-jarige op de officiëlele teamwebsite van Williams. "Het zijn drie lange weken geweest waarin we hard hebben gewerkt om te blijven leren en ons voor te bereiden op deze Grand Prix.

Volgens Seargant worden het boeiende dagen met het nieuwe sprintformat. "Het zou een interessant weekend moeten worden, want het is een zwaar circuit en mijn eerste sprintevenement. Ik kijk ernaar uit om de uitdaging aan te gaan en hopelijk een goed weekend te hebben."

In 2022 reed de jonge Amerikaan nog in de Formule 2 en scoorde een van zijn beste resultaten van dat seizoen in Azerbeidzjan. In de sprintrace werd Seargant zesde en pakte een knappe tweede plaats in de hoofdrace. Enkele weken later zou de Amerikaan zijn eerste van twee F2-zeges behalen op het circuit van Silverstone.
