Marko deelt toekomstplannen Tost: "Hij zal doorgroeien naar adviseursrol"

Gisteren werd duidelijk dat Franz Tost aan het einde van dit jaar vertrekt als teambaas van het team van AlphaTauri. Tost wordt volgend jaar opgevolgd door Laurent Mekies en het nieuws hing dan ook al eventjes in de lucht. Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko was al geruime tijd op de hoogte en deelt dat Tost niet helemaal vertrekt.

Tost was in de afgelopen jaren verantwoordelijk voor de zusterrenstal van Red Bull Racing. Sinds vorig jaar zijn de resultaten van AlphaTauri volledig ingezakt. Het zorgde eerder dit jaar voor veel geruchten over de toekomst van de Italiaanse renstal. Er gingen zelfs verhalen rond over een mogelijke verkoop, Helmut Marko ontkende deze verhalen zelfs niet.

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko sprak voorafgaand het nieuws over Tost over de situatie met Red Bull-kopstuk Oliver Mintzlaff. Marko deelt in gesprek met de krant Osterreich meer details over de vergadering: "Het was een vriendschappelijk gesprek met Mintzlaff in Hangar 7. Ik was aanwezig en dat gold ook voor Franz Tost. Franz zal tot en met het einde van het jaar aanblijven bij het team van AlphaTauri. Na die periode zal hij door gaan groeien naar een rol als adviseur."
