Marko ziet Verstappen als kopman: "Hij is gewoon constanter"

Het team van Red Bull Racing is momenteel oppermachtig in de Formule 1. Red Bull-coureurs Sergio Perez en Max Verstappen zijn momenteel vooral elkaars rivaal. Perez won afgelopen weekend in Azerbeidzjan zijn tweede Grand Prix van het seizoen en hij wil vol voor de titel gaan. Helmut Marko denkt echter dat Verstappen alsnog de sterkste zal zijn.

Verstappen gaat momenteel nog aan de leiding van het wereldkampioenschap. Perez staat door zijn succesvolle weekend in Azerbeidzjan zeer dichtbij zijn teamgenoot in de WK-stand. De Mexicaan kan bij een zege in Miami de koppositie overnemen van Verstappen, maar bij Red Bull wil men wel dat dit op een juiste manier gebeurt. Een spijkerharde clash wordt dus niet als gewenst gezien.

Verstappen

Aankomend weekend gaat het Formule 1-circus alweer direct verder in Miami. Perez wil ook hier winnen, maar Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko laat aan OE24 weten dat hij iets anders verwacht: "Ik zie Max daar weer gewoon vooraan staan. Misschien dat Charles Leclerc nog snel is in de kwalificatie. Ik blijf er echter wel bij dat Max Verstappen over een volledige seizoen echt dé man is. Hij is gewoon constanter."

Intern duel

Marko laat daarnaast weten dat hij geen problemen heeft met een strijd tussen Verstappen en Perez. De Oostenrijkse adviseur heeft daarvoor wel een strenge eis: "Zolang alles netjes blijft, zullen wij niet gaan ingrijpen. We hoeven ons echt helemaal geen zorgen te maken over de sfeer binnen ons team. Checo is ontwaakt en hij geeft Max een beetje tegengas, ik blijf hier gewoon relaxed onder. Zolang we superieur zijn, is een intern duel goed voor iedereen."

      Welnee, maar hij moet wel, wat moet hij dan zeggen? ik ben kansloos en Max is de betere en ik zit hier deels alleen door mijn centjes? als hij dat doet zouh het wel gelijk een eeuwige held zijn, want het is de keiharde waarheid imo.

      Ja duh. Hij is de enige die het kan veranderen. Als je er niet in gelooft kan je beter stoppen. Een bokser zal bijvoorbeeld ook altijd geloven dat hij kan winnen ookal vecht hij tegen Fury, Mayweather, Canelo wie jij wil. Zelfvertrouwen is enorm belangrijk.

      Daarom zit de Red Bull-kweekvijver momenteel vol
      met laagvliegers. Het halve GP2-veld bestaat uit Red Bull Juniors, maar de blikvangers dit seizoen zitten in de programma's van Sauber (Pourchaire), Mercedes (Vesti), Ferrari (Bearman) en Alpine (Martins).

      THW, het verschil is dat ze bij RB een kans krijgen en bij de rest niet/nauwelijks. Alle teams bij elkaar opgeteld komen de komende 20 jaar niet aan wat RB aan kansen heeft uitgedeeld.

    Oeps! Checo dacht net dat hij die positie had veroverd, want hij had tenslotte bovenaan gestaan zonder die sabotage in Australië. Misschien de andere box met gelijke munt terugbetalen?

    Kortom: Spanning en sensatie komen weekend: sabotagepogingen, keiharde psychologische spelletjes, botsautootje spelen, en zal er iemand onder de druk bezwijken? Drive to Survive is er niets bij!
