Horner looft vertrekkende Marshall: "Hij zal worden gemist"

Het team van Red Bull Racing heeft afscheid genomen van Rob Marshall. Hij fungeerde in de afgelopen jaren als Chief Engineering Officer van Red Bull en gisteren werd duidelijk dat hij vertrekt naar het team van McLaren. Red Bull neemt waardig afscheid van Marshall en teambaas Christian Horner is lovend over hem.

Marshall werkte in totaal 17 jaar voor Red Bull Racing. Hij maakt nu echter de stap naar McLaren, waar hij een belangrijke functie krijgt in het technische hart van het team. McLaren heeft dit jaar een flinke reorganisatie doorgevoerd en heeft het technische deel van het team flink door elkaar geschud. Eerder namen ze bijvoorbeeld ook een belangrijke man van Ferrari over.

Red Bull Racing reageerde sportief op het vertrek van Marshall, die nu met gardening leave gaat. In een persbericht spreekt Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner zich uit: "We willen Rob bedanken voor alles wat hij in de afgelopen 17 jaar heeft gedaan. Zijn werk aan de auto's waarmee we van 2010 tot en met 2013 wereldkampioen werden, was geweldig. Sinds hij in 2016 de rol kreeg van Chief Engineering Officer, heeft hij ook aan andere projecten binnen ons bedrijf gewerkt. Zijn invloed zal worden gemist en we wensen hem het beste in zijn nieuwe rol."

Hij was wel betrokken bij het opzetten van RBPT.
Aangezien er gesprekken met McLaren zijn over het gebruik van RBPT motoren vanaf 2026 zou een en ander misschien niet eens helemaal los van elkaar kunnen staan.
De man werkt al 17 jaar zeer verdienstelijk voor RB en ik kan mij voorstellen dat nog ... [Lees verder]

Oftewel McLaren heeft een kat in de zak gekocht want hij was niet betrokken bij de huidige wagens.

  De man werkt al 17 jaar zeer verdienstelijk voor RB en ik kan mij voorstellen dat nog 1 keer een nieuwe klus/uitdaging wil voor hij met pensioen gaat. Ze gaan ook goed uit elkaar met mooie vriendelijke woorden. Dat zou er op kunnen wijzen dat McLaren een klant gaat worden en Zak en Horner weer op goede voet met elkaar staan.
  Nu AM overstapt naar Honda en McLaren waarschijnlijk stopt met Mercedes en Albon een belangrijke speler bij Williams is zie ik de macht en invloed van Toto langzaam afnemen. Horner lijkt maar wat graag bereid om in dat gat te duiken.

  Zijn naam wordt anders wel genoemd rond het ontwerp van de auto's, dus dan was hij daar wel degelijk bij betrokken. Iets 'chief engineering' zegt me dat hij de leiding had over de ontwikkeling en productie van alle middelen die nodig waren om de auto te maken.
