Verstappen gunt 'racebeest' Alonso een overwinning

Max Verstappen heeft het momentum in de Formule 1 momenteel stevig in handen. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur gaat met een ruime voorsprong aan de leiding in het wereldkampioenschap en is de favoriet voor de zege in Canada. Verstappen zelf zou Aston Martin-coureur Fernando Alonso ook een zege gunnen.

Red Bull Racing heeft tot nu toe alle Grands Prix in 2023 gewonnen. Naast Verstappen kwam zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez ook twee keer als winnaar over de streep. De voorsprong op de andere teams is zeer groot en een aantal mensen denken dat Red Bull dit seizoen alle Grands Prix kan gaan winnen. Aston Martin-coureur Fernando Alonso is ook bezig met een sterk seizoen, maar kon zich nog niet in de strijd om de zege mengen.

Verstappen hoopt dat hij snel met Alonso kan gaan strijden. Hij gunt Alonso een zege en is daar in Canada nog altijd duidelijk over en wordt geciteerd door Motorsport.com: "Wie ik het gun? Alonso! Ik mag hem gewoon graag. Hij is een echte racer en hij verdient het ook. Hij houdt echt van de sport en hij heeft nog nooit opgegeven. Ik heb leefde met hem mee toen hij in auto's reed die alleen maar goed genoeg waren voor het middenveld. Dan is het makkelijk om iets van je liefde voor de sport te verliezen. Hij is echter een echt racebeest."

Moet dan wel van de updates komen, idd, en hoewel AM tot nu toe aardig jatwerk heeft laten zien, moeten ze daar nog bewijzen dat het het echt begrijpen.

  Beter goed gejat dan slecht bedacht, en aangezien ze de juiste weg zijn ingeslagen denk ik dat ervaring het team de das om gaat doen en Mercedes naast RBR gaat domineren.

  Volgens mij heeft AM geen "jatwerk" (zoals jij het noemt) laten zien.
  Het lijkt me vrij logisch dat Dan Fallows al zijn jarenlange ervaring en bijdrages bij/aan RBR heeft meegenomen en dat bij zijn nieuwe team toepast. Dat is volkomen legaal.

  Dat zal wel, alleen het viel wel een beetje op dat AM opeens bijna dezelfde sidepods had dan die van RBR. Het maakt ook verder niet uit, het gaat erom dat je bij de benchmark komt en wie dat het beste doet is gewoon goed bezig, en dat maakt voor mij niet uit hoe een team dat doet.

Als Max zijn 3e titel op zak heeft, laat hij bewust een keer de teugels vieren als het uitkomt, en gunt hij zijn maat Alonso gewoon nog een race overwinning op zijn Ouw-dag!
