Verstappen steunt De Vries: "Je moet niets gaan forceren"

Nyck de Vries beleeft momenteel lastige tijden in de Formule 1. De Nederlandse AlphaTauri-coureur staat onder grote druk vanwege zijn tegenvallende prestaties. De Vries wil antwoord geven op de baan en krijgt steun van Max Verstappen. De regerend wereldkampioen adviseert De Vries om vooral niets te forceren.

De Vries is bezig met een tegenvallend seizoen in de Formule 1. Hij heeft nog geen enkel WK-punt gescoord, wordt veelvuldig verslagen door zijn teamgenoot Yuki Tsunoda en krijgt te maken met kritiek vanuit Red Bull. Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko liet meerdere keren weten dat De Vries het beter moet doen en stelde deze week zelfs dat Christian Horner twijfelde aan de kwaliteiten van de Nederlander.

Niets forceren

Red Bull Racing-coureur Max Verstappen staat achter zijn landgenoot De Vries. De regerend wereldkampioen denkt dat De Vries zelf ook wel weet wat hij moet doen. Tijdens de gebruikelijke persconferentie op de donderdag in Oostenrijk sprak hij zich uit: "Het is zoals Nyck zei, je kan het niet forceren. Het draait om hoe je samenwerkt met je team en ook dat je meer ervaring opdoet. Uiteindelijk gaat het er niet om wat de mensen boven je zeggen, het gaat erom dat je leert van je weekenden en je fouten. Verder is het een kwestie van je auto beter leren kennen en jezelf comfortabeler voelen."

Verstappen denkt verder dat De Vries niet te gestrest moet raken en gewoon hard moet doorwerken. Hij wijst daarnaast ook naar de ervaring van zijn landgenoot en geeft nog een tip mee: "Je moet het zeker niet gaan forceren. Praat met je engineers en ga samen met ze kijken naar wat er nog beter kan en waar er nog aan gewerkt moet worden. Op een zeker moment, als het allemaal wat meer op zijn plaats valt, komen de resultaten vanzelf."

ja tuurlijk max gewoon ermee dealen blijf gewoon achterin het veld zitten waar je zit en ermee leren omgaan het leven is nou eenmaal niet eerlijk.

Zoals Max al zo vaak heeft gezegd en waar ik het altijd en helemaal mee eens ben. Blijven werken aan de dingen waar je zelf invloed op hebt en je niet druk maken over zaken waar je geen invloed op hebt. Het enige wat ik Nyck dan nog zou meegeven is dat niet betekent dat je alles maar moet blijven nuanceren. Soms is ruk gewoon ruk.
