Horner goed gemutst: "Maakt niet uit wie onze naaste belager is"

Het team van Red Bull Racing kende een zeer positieve vrijdag in Silverstone. Max Verstappen was in beide vrije trainingen de snelste coureur en ook zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez kwam goed voor de dag. Teambaas Christian Horner spreekt na afloop van de tweede training van een positieve dag.

Verstappen was in de eerste sessie bijna een halve seconde sneller dan zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez. In de tweede vrije training waren de verschillen veel kleiner, Verstappen reed de snelste tijd en was daarmee slechts 0,022 seconden sneller dan nummer twee Carlos Sainz. Perez sloot de sessie af als vierde, maar was slechts 0,264 seconden langzamer dan zijn teamgenoot.

Positieve dag

Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner had na afloop een grote grijns op zijn gezicht. De Brit zag dat zijn coureurs moesten wennen aan de nieuwe banden en spreekt zich uit bij Sky Sports: "Het was een positieve dag. Deze banden zijn iets anders, we leren momenteel veel over de nieuwe constructie. We hebben last van veel degradatie op de softs, meer coureurs hebben daar last van. Dat kan interessant worden voor de zondag, al helemaal omdat de temperaturen gaan veranderen."

Williams

Horner was onder de indruk van de prestaties van Williams. De Britse renstal eindigde in beide sessies in de top drie met Alexander Albon. Horner maakt zich echter geen zorgen: "Het maakt ons niet uit wie onze naaste belager is, zolang wij maar de snelste zijn. Dat dit steeds maar weer anders is, is voor ons heel behulpzaam. Ik zou zeggen dat Ferrari competitief zal zijn, als ze hun problemen kunnen oplossen. De temperaturen gaan morgen flink veranderen en dat kan voor veranderingen zorgen."

  Momenteel zit die muts naast mij op het bankie naar Smokey and the Bandit te kijken. Maar ze is goed gemutst, dus de bull ziet er goed uit voor later vanavond.

Horner en marko de feestmuts al op. Of het verstandig is? Of dat het de goden verzoeken is? Mij is geleerd om de dag pas te prijzen als het donker is.
