Ocon laat teleurstelling in Hongarije achter: "We hebben geen andere keus"

Alpine kon na één ronde in Budapest al inpakken. Zowel Esteban Ocon en Pierre Gasly vielen uit door een startincident, veroorzaakt door Guanyu Zhou. Voor Ocon was het een bittere pil.

"Het was erg frustrerend voor het hele team om op zondag dubbel uit te vallen", zei Ocon, opgetekend door The Checkered Flag. "Vooral in dergelijke omstandigheden zo vroeg in de race. Er was niet veel dat Pierre of ik konden doen en we hebben geen andere keuze dan verder te gaan en ons te concentreren op dit weekend."

Ocon kijkt ondanks de teleurstelling van Hongarije erg uit naar de Grand Prix van België van aanstaand weekend en hoopt weer een dosis punten te scoren.

"Gezien het sprintformat van dit weekend hebben we de kans om zowel op zaterdag als zondag punten te pakken, dus we zullen er alles aan doen om onze kansen te maximaliseren."

Fysiek in orde

Bij de startcrash van Hongarije knalde Pierr Gasly zonder enige vorm schuld keihard tegen de Alpine van zijn teamgenoot. Ocon werd iets van twee of misschien zelfs vier meter de lucht in gelanceerd met zijn Toen hij daarna de grond raakte, was de landing keihard en zijn stoeltje brak in tweeën.

Ocon geeft aan dat hij gewoon kan racen zondag. "Ondanks de aanzienlijke impact van de crash op zondag, voel ik me fysiek in orde en erg gemotiveerd."
