McLaren maakt zich geen zorgen om contract Norris

McLaren CEO Zak Brown zegt dat hij zich geen zorgen maakt over een mogelijk vertrek van stercoureur Lando Norris, nadat zijn huidige contract in 2025 afloopt. Vorig jaar tekende de 23-jarige Norris een contract van 100 miljoen dollar om tot en met 2025 bij het team uit Woking te blijven.

Voorlopig werpt het zijn vruchten af, want Norris zit niet alleen achter het stuur van de snel verbeterende McLaren in 2023 McLaren, maar heeft ook een uitstekende positie binnen het team. Teambaas Andrea Stella is in zijn nopjes: "Lando ontwikkelt zich zeker naar een leidende positie. Niet een leidende positie als hoofdcoureur, maar gewoon coureurs die het team proberen te trekken en niet alleen aan de ontvangende kant staan."

Goede auto bouwen

De Brit was tot nu toe echter zo indrukwekkend in de Formule 1 dat hij vaak in verband wordt gebracht met andere teams, waaronder het dominante Red Bull. McLaren CEO Brown zegt hierover: "Zolang we hem een goede auto kunnen geven, houdt hij van de omgeving bij McLaren, hij houdt van het team en dat is onderdeel van de reis die we maken."

"Het is duidelijk dat we allemaal wat gefrustreerd waren sinds het begin van het seizoen, maar de laatste tijd hebben we zeer goede prestaties neergezet. Ik denk dat hij bij ons zal blijven zolang we deze weg kunnen blijven volgen", voegde Brown eraan toe.

Geeft hij nu hier mee aan dat er een clausule in het contract zit dat ze Norris een goede auto geven?

Dit transfergedoetje kun je beter onderzoeken in een fase waarin het minder gaat met McLaren, nu zal Norris slechts roepen dat het hem prima bevalt bij het roemruchte papaya oranje team uit Woking. Hoe hij zijn (nabije) toekomst echt ziet zal Lando nu echt niet in de media rond toeteren...
