Coulthard verwacht toekomstige successen van Norris

Het team van McLaren sloot de eerste seizoenshelft zeer sterk af. Door een aantal updates gingen Lando Norris en Oscar Piastri ineens als de brandweer. Norris mocht meerdere keren het podium beklimmen en liet zijn talent maar weer eens zien. Volgens David Coulthard is een zege voor Norris niet ver meer.

Norris staat momenteel op de achtste plaats in het het wereldkampioenschap. Na een teleurstellende start van het seizoen krabbelde hij langzamerhand weer op en schitterde hij in Silverstone en in Hongarije. De Britse coureur beschikt over een langdurig contract bij McLaren en hoopt daar in de toekomst de vruchten van te kunnen plukken. Hij heeft immers nog steeds geen Grand Prix gewonnen en wil graag meevechten voor de titels.

Oud-coureur David Coulthard heeft veel vertrouwen in een goed resultaat van Norris. De Schot stelt dat het in de nabije toekomst eindelijk zover kan zijn. In zijn podcast Formula for Success spreekt Coulthard zich uit: "Ik denk dat McLaren ondertussen hun draai heeft gevonden en dat ze richting het gewenste niveau komen. Lando heeft wel een contract getekend voor meerdere jaren, maar alle topteams hebben inmiddels al interesse getoond in zijn diensten. Als McLaren blijft presteren zoals ze nu doen en als ze voortgang blijven boeken, dan zie ik hem over een aantal jaar races winnen."
