Marko verwacht langere afwezigheid Ricciardo

Ook dit weekend in Monza komt Liam Lawson weer in actie voor AlphaTauri. De Nieuw-Zeelander mag weer invallen voor de geblesseerde Daniel Ricciardo. Het lijkt er sterk op dat Lawson de komende weken ook in actie zal komen voor AlphaTauri, want Helmut Marko heeft slecht nieuws voor Ricciardo.

Ricciardo raakte vorige week in Zandvoort geblesseerd bij een crash in de tweede vrije training. De Australiër liet zijn stuurtje te laat los waardoor deze tegen zijn hand aan klapte. Hij brak zijn middenhandsbeentje en vloog daarna naar Barcelona voor een operatie. Hij is begonnen aan zijn revalidatie en AlphaTauri liet weten dat Lawson zal rijden totdat Ricciardo volledig fit is. Het lijkt er sterk op dat Lawson iets langer mag rijden dan verwacht.

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko geeft in Monza namelijk een update over de situatie van Ricciardo. De Oostenrijker is te spreken over Lawson en legt de zaak uit in gesprek met de internationale media: "Normaal gesproken duurt zo'n herstel zes weken. In het allerbeste geval zal de eerste Grand Prix waarin hij weer kan rijden, de race in Singapore zijn. Fysiek gezien is dit een van de meest extreme circuits. De kans dat we Ricciardo daar terug zien is dus onwaarschijnlijk. Dat geldt eigenlijk ook voor de race in Suzuka."

Liam zijn eerste verplichting in Japan is pas eind oktober, wat samenvalt met de F1 race op Maxico. Ik denk dat hij zeker tot en met Suzuka in de auto zit. En waarom niet? Zo kunnen ze Lawson een beetje testen en kan Ricciardo rustig herstellen. Daarna zijn er nog genoeg races voor Ricciardo.

Mijn gevoel zegt me dat RB toch wat teleurgesteld is in Ricciardo en dat ze het eigenlijk wel prima vinden dat hij zichzelf heeft uitgeschakeld. Met Lawson lijken ze een prima coureur gevonden te hebben die uitstekend past in de Alpha Tauri filosofie.

Het zou mij niks verbazen wanneer dit ook het einde is van Daniels F1 carrière. Wanneer dadelijk Hugo Boss Alpha Tauri overneemt dan zie ik casual Daniel daar ook niet echt meer in thuis horen en Peréz vervangen zie ik ook niet. Dan halen ze bij Red Bull liever iemand als Norris of Piastri binnen.

  Ja, Ricciardo is klaar. Was ook wel te verwachten. Hij is echt niet goed genoeg meer voor Red Bull.
  
  Hij doet precies bij AT wat ik verwacht had. Niet sneller of beter dan de Vries. Gewoon over het algemeen gelijk gepresteerd.
  
  Lawson heeft gewoon meer potentie. Ben benieuwd hoe hij leert de aankomende races. Als hij ook maar in de buurt komt van Tsunoda weet je dat er potentie in zit.
  
  Wie er echt volgens jaar in de AT It weet ik niet. Palou en lawson? Iwasa? Echt geen idee. Perez blijft gewoon naast Verstappen. Norris blijft bij McLaren. En ik hoop echt dat Norris en piastri samen dat team naar het hoogste podium kunnen pushen. Dat McLaren komt langzaamaan weer op de plek waar historisch gezien ze thuis horen...

  Stroll ist nicht der einzige Pilot, der in Italien die Rückdeckung seines Teamchefs zu spüren bekam. Auch Yuki Tsunoda, dessen Kontrakt nach diesem Jahr ausläuft, wird sein Cockpit bei AlphaTauri behalten.
  "Ich sehe den Yuki im nächsten Jahr auf alle Fälle im Team. Das ist mehr oder weniger schon fix", verdeutliche Teamchef Franz Tost gegenüber Sky. Tsunoda fährt seit 2021 für das Red-Bull-Schwesternteam, Stroll seit demselben Jahr für Aston Martin.

  Lawson valt tot nu toe best mee eerlijk gezegd. Nette opbouw dit weekend ook.
  
  Vond het geen hoogvlieger in de F2 en F3 maar tot nog toe doet hij het boven verwachting.
