Marko grinnikt om problemen Verstappen en wijst naar snelste ronde

Max Verstappen schreef gisteren op redelijk eenvoudige wijze de Italiaanse Grand Prix op het circuit van Monza op zijn naam. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur moest in de slotfase wel rustig aan doen omdat er een 'urgent' probleem met zijn auto was. Volgens Helmut Marko had dit te maken met oplopende temperaturen.

Verstappen schreef gisteren geschiedenis door zijn tiende Grand Prix op rij te winnen. Zijn record leek op geen enkel moment in gevaar te komen, maar in de slotfase liet zijn engineer Gianpiero Lambiase hem weten dat hij zijn rondetijden moest aanpassen. Wat er precies aan de hand was, was niet helemaal duidelijk. Verstappen kreeg alleen maar te horen dat het om iets 'urgents' ging, de Nederlander volgde de adviezen op en mocht daarna juichen.

Temperaturen

Verstappen wist vlak na de race niet wat er precies aan de hand was met zijn auto. Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko wist dat wel en sprak zich hierover uit bij Motorsport.com: "Dat had te maken met oplopende temperaturen die we onder controle moesten houden. We moesten de temperaturen binnen een bepaald window houden. Hij had trouwens ook een voorsprong van twaalf seconden, dus er was geen enkele reden om risico's te nemen."

Snelste ronde

Marko is blij dat Verstappen zich aan de afspraken hield en dat de Nederlander luisterde naar de adviezen van de pitmuur. De zege zorgde voor veel vreugde bij de topadviseur van Red Bull. Marko zag daarnaast dat de temperatuurproblemen ook een voordeel hadden. Hij legt het lachend uit: "Aan de andere kant was dit ook positief om het idee van een eventuele snelste ronde uit het hoofd van Max te krijgen."

Max gaat altijd voor alles,zelfs die snelste ronde,ook al zou hij met 1 punt kampioen kunnen worden,die is niet te temmen.dat maakt hem vreselijk snel,maar af en toe ook een beetje kiele kiele.
