Marko ziet Verstappen en Vettel niet als ideale teamgenoten

Max Verstappen is dit jaar bezig met een zeer sterk seizoen in dienst van Red Bull Racing. Hij is hard op weg naar zijn derde wereldtitel op rij en hij is dit seizoen bijna onverslaanbaar. Verstappen is pas de tweede coureur die wereldkampioen werd in dienst van Red Bull. Hij trad in de voetsporen van Sebastian Vettel. Helmut Marko denkt dat Verstappen en Vettel niet samen in één team passen.

Vettel nam eind vorig jaar afscheid van de Formule 1. De Duitse viervoudig wereldkampioen zwaaide af, maar hij heeft nog geen afscheid genomen van de cockpit. Eerder dit jaar reed hij al een aantal demoruns tijdens het Goodwood Festival of Speed en aankomend weekend kruipt hij weer achter het stuur van een Red Bull-bolide voor een rondje over de iconische Nordschleife in Duitsland. Een comeback in de autosport is dan ook niet uitgesloten.

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko sluit dan ook niet uit dat Vettel ooit weer terugkeert in de Formule 1. De Oostenrijkse adviseur merkt wel op dat Vettel nooit naast Verstappen kan rijden bij Red Bull. In gesprek met Servus TV spreekt Marko zich hierover uit: "Ik denk niet dat zijn leven als coureur voorbij is. Ik wil hem het alleen niet aandoen om naast Verstappen te rijden. Als Sebastian besluit terug te keren, dan wil hij rijden voor een topteam en wil hij gaan jagen op zeges."

      Idealiter zou Perez ook vorig jaar vice-kampioen zijn geworden. Al had Max toen ook collegialer kunnen zijn.

      @300, Nee Checo had Max dat jaar een hak gezet om met opzet te crashen in Monaco zodat Max zijn tijd niet meer kon verbeteren. Tja als je een Verstappen kwaad maakt kun je het wel schudden. Dus totaal begrijpelijk.

      Whatever. Red Bull had aangegeven het belangrijk te vinden ook het vice-kampioenschap te winnen en Verstappen heeft dat naast zich neergelegd. Als hij het niet voor Perez had willen doen, had hij het alsnog voor zijn team kunnen doen.

      Met collegialer bedoel je dat plekje teruggeven in Brazilie? Dat had voor de einduitslag geen reet uitgemaakt, Perez zou dan 2 punt meer hebben gehad, waarmee hij dus 2 punten voorsprong zou hebben op Leclerc voor Abu Dhabi.
      Kijk met die kennis nog eens naar het puntenverschil in de eindstand?
