Horner fan van Pirelli: "Miljoenen redenen om met ze door te gaan"

In de Formule 1 worden de banden sinds 2011 geleverd door het Italiaanse Pirelli. Het bedrijf wil graag doorgaan met het leveren van de banden, maar het is nog niet zeker of ze dit in de komende jaren ook mogen doen. Als het aan Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner ligt blijft Pirelli nog lang banden leveren.

Autosportfederatie FIA schreef eerder dit jaar een zogenaamde tender uit voor het leveren van banden van 2025 tot en met 2027. Pirelli heeft zich vanzelfsprekend aangemeld bij de FIA, maar het lijkt er sterk op dat ze een uitdagende concurrent erbij hebben gekregen. Ook Bridgestone heeft zich namelijk gemeld bij de FIA. Het is dus nog lang niet zeker of Pirelli in 2025 nog steeds de bandenleverancier is.

Als het aan Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner ligt, blijft Pirelli nog wel eventjes banden leveren. Alhoewel Horner stelt dat het nooit te laat is voor een nieuwe leverancier, laat hij aan de internationale media weten blij te zijn met Pirelli: "Er zijn miljoenen redenen om door te gaan met Pirelli. Ze zijn een geweldig bandenbedrijf, ze leveren geweldige service en zoals ik zei zijn er hopelijk miljoenen goede redenen om gewoon met hen door te gaan in de toekomst."
