Alonso deelt complimenten uit: "Max en Red Bull zijn met elkaar verbonden"

Red Bull Racing en Max Verstappen heersen momenteel in de Formule 1. Verstappen is al maanden onverslaanbaar en dat zorgt voor grote verbazing en veel respect bij zijn concurrenten. Fernando Alonso heeft veel respect voor de Nederlander, de Spanjaard stelt dat Verstappen en Red Bull met elkaar verbonden zijn.

Alonso is dit seizoen één van de grootste uitdagers van Verstappen. De Spaanse Aston Martin-coureur daagde Verstappen meerdere keren uit, maar de Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur was simpelweg te sterk. Sinds de Grand Prix van Miami is Verstappen dan ook niet meer verslagen. Verstappen heeft de laatste tien Grands Prix gewonnen en daarmee heeft hij het record van de langste zegereeks in de Formule 1.

Verbonden

Alonso heeft zeer veel respect voor de huidige resultaten van Verstappen en zijn team Red Bull. De Spaanse tweevoudig wereldkampioen deelt zijn complimenten uit in gesprek met Motorsport.com: "Volgens mij zijn Red Bull en Max dit seizoen met elkaar verbonden. Ze zijn uitstekend in alles wat ze aan het doen zijn. Red Bull heeft momenteel de snelste auto en ze zorgen veel beter voor de banden dan de rest van het veld."

Alle aspecten

De Aston Martin-coureur ziet dat Red Bull ook naast de baan veel beter presteert dan de rest van de Formule 1-teams. Alonso ziet dan ook dat er hier veel verschillen zijn met de concurrentie: "Ze hebben de beste starts en ze hebben ook de beste pitstops. Ze zijn de beste op elk gebied dat je maar kunt wensen. Ze hebben de beste topsnelheid, de beste performance op lage snelheden en de beste DRS-delta. Er is dus geen enkel aspect van die auto dat op dit moment kan worden geëvenaard door iemand anders."

Als je de rest van de tekst in het originele bericht leest snap je pas waarom Max ook in de titel staat, daarin gaat het wel over Verstappen...

Volgens Alonso geldt dat ook voor Verstappen zelf: "Hij is de beste in de kwalificatie, de beste in de race en de beste in de duels."
Ook op het gebied van pitstops prijst Alonso het werk van Verstappen. "Hij is de beste in pitstops. Het is waar dat twee seconden het record is en Red Bull voert altijd de snelste pitstops uit en de monteurs doen het geweldig, maar de coureur moet ook zijn deel doen en nooit een fout maken met de positie van de auto en dat soort dingen."

Alonso is ervan overtuigd dat Verstappen en Red Bull op dit moment 'niks verkeerd' doen. "Die twee zijn gewoon ongelofelijk en verbreken alle zegerecords en dat soort zaken.
Laten we zien wat wij en de anderen kunnen doen om op dat niveau te komen."

Jij had het met Renault en net geen geluk met Ferrari.

  De starts waren niet altijd goed nee, maar Max gaf een tijdje geleden aan dat ze daar iets hadden gevonden, en dat het nu beter moest gaan. Zie de laatste tijd weinig zwakke starts, maar soms kan een start van een ander net even beter zijn, dat hou je altijd.

  Ik zie nog steeds elke race andere auto's sneller van hun startlijn komen. Dan is er per definitie geen sprake van dat RBR de beste starts heeft.
