Ocon genoot van donderspeech De Meo: "Hij kwam iedereen gerust stellen"

Het team van Alpine is niet bepaald bezig met het beste seizoen uit hun bestaan. De prestaties vallen tegen en op de achtergrond rommelt het. Meerdere kopstukken zijn al weggestuurd en Renault CEO Luca de Meo heeft een donderspeech gegeven op de fabriek. Volgens Esteban Ocon was het een geweldige speech.

Alpine is nog steeds eigendom van Renault. De Franse renstal is bezig met een lastig seizoen waar er op de baan zeer wisselvallige resultaten worden geboekt. Ocon en Pierre Gasly stonden allebei al een keertje op het podium, maar ze reden ook regelmatig rond in het achterveld. In de afgelopen maanden werden onder meer Otmar Szafnauer, Alan Permane en Laurent Rossi weggestuurd. CEO Luca de Meo gaf deze week een donderspeech op de fabriek om zijn mensen te motiveren.

De Meo was speciaal naar Enstone afgereisd om zijn mensen toe te spreken. Hij deed dat op een indrukwekkende manier, zo stelt Esteban Ocon in gesprek met Motorsport.com: "Natuurlijk heb ik de speech van Luca bijgewoond. Hij is langsgekomen om iedereen in de fabriek gerust te stellen en te motiveren. Het was goed dat hij langskwam. Hij heeft ook antwoord gegeven op veel vragen van iedereen. Natuurlijk moeten we dingen verbeteren. We zijn hard op weg om dat ook te doen en ik weet zeker dat hij gaat lukken."

Laten we eerlijk zijn, als we het niet voor het werk zouden doen, zouden we allemaal waarschijnlijk nog in bed liggen en dromen van strandvakanties.

    Maar laten we even serieus zijn - jullie zijn geweldig! Jullie houden de machines draaiende, jullie zorgen ervoor dat de auto’s van de band rollen, en jullie doen dit alles met een glimlach (of in ieder geval een sterke kop koffie). Als ik de energie en toewijding zie waarmee jullie hier elke dag aan de slag gaan, zonder dat ik jullie daartoe de middelen geef, kan ik alleen maar zeggen Wow, dit is beter dan een komedieshow op televisie! Het is zelfs nog leuker dan de show die clownsduo Alain en Cyril jarenlang opvoerden. En weet je wat echt gieren en brullen was? Die twee hadden nog meer budget dan jullie hahahaha. En toen gingen ze Daniel voor 35 miljoen halen hahaha ja ja wat hebben we gelachen

    Ik begrijp dat sommige raceweekenden langer lijken dan een oneindige marathon en dat de pauzes soms te kort zijn om fatsoenlijk een stokbroodje te eten. Maar laten we niet vergeten dat jullie samen de magie en illusie van een fabrieksteam creëren die dit team draaiende houdt. Jullie zijn als de superhelden van de productie.

    Dus laten we blijven lachen, zelfs als de auto’s kuren hebben of de koffieautomaat ermee stopt. Jullie humor en teamgeest maken dit werk de moeite waard, en ik kan niet wachten om te zien welke grappige verhalen jullie morgen te vertellen hebben.

    Bedankt voor jullie inzet, jullie humor en jullie onvermoeibare geest. Laten we samen lachen, hard werken en weinige succes vieren, want jullie zijn de helden van deze fabriek!
