Ocon: "We bevinden ons in een geweldige uitgangspositie"

Alpine beleefde een uitstekende start van het weekend met wagens in de top tien van de kwalificatie met een zeven en achtste plaats. Esteban Ocon denkt zelfs dat er meer in zat dan alleen maar een achtste plaats.

“Er lag vandaag waarschijnlijk iets meer op tafel, maar desalniettemin bevinden we ons in een geweldige uitgangspositie voor de race van zondag om voor de punten te kunnen strijden", begon de Fransman in een officieel persbericht van de renstal.

"Onze dag begon met een drukke vrije oefensessie en we kwamen zonder problemen door ons programma. We konden de zaken snel omdraaien om klaar te zijn voor de kwalificatie en het team heeft vanaf het begin geweldig werk geleverd en we zijn er goed in geslaagd om door te gaan naar Q3."

Onze focus gaat nu uit naar de Sprint Shootout en Sprint Race, waar punten zijn te verdienen, dus het zal belangrijk zijn om dit momentum door te zetten naar zaterdag."

De laatste twee Grands Prix belandde Ocon in de punten dankzij een negende en zevende plaats. Daarvoor had de eenmalig Grand Prix-winnaar twee uitvalbeurten.
