Horner maakt zich niet druk over concurrentie

Het team van Red Bull Racing werkte dit seizoen met de gevolgen van de budgetcapstraf. Dat leek echter voor weinig problemen te zorgen, want de Oostenrijkse renstal is oppermachtig. Teambaas Christian Horner laat dan ook weten dat ze de auto sinds de zomerstop amper hebben ontwikkeld.

Red Bull heeft dit seizoen slechts één Grand Prix niet gewonnen, daarnaast profiteren ze van de zeer sterke prestaties van Max Verstappen. De Nederlandse coureur bezorgde het team in Japan de constructeurstitel en in Qatar prolongeerde Verstappen zijn eigen wereldtitel. De concurrentie probeert het gat te verkleinen, maar Red Bull blijft nog steeds de snelste renstal van het moment. Bij het team maakt men zich ook niet druk.

Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner maakt zich dan ook amper zorgen over de concurrenten. De Brit is daar duidelijk over en hij wordt geciteerd door Motorsportweek: "Het verschil schommelt een beetje. We moeten ook onthouden dat we sinds de zomerstop weinig performance hebben toegevoegd aan onze auto. Met de windtunnelstraf in ons achterhoofd, hebben we ervoor gekozen om ons te focussen op de auto voor volgend jaar in plaats van op de ontwikkeling van de RB19. Het is echter niet zo dat niets leren voor volgend jaar. We zijn nog steeds consistent op verschillende circuits."
