Stewards delen geen straffen uit na crash Alonso en Ocon

Esteban Ocon en Fernando Alonso zorgden voor een flinke crash tijdens de Sprint Shootout van vanmiddag. De stewards keken naar het incident dat voor het nodige oponthoud zorgde. Ze besloten echter dat het een simpel race-incident was en dat er geen straf nodig is voor de coureurs.

Ocon was in SQ1 bezig met een snelle ronde totdat hij in de eerste sector te hard op de kerbstone reed. Hij probeerde zich te corrigeren, maar in dat proces raakte hij de Aston Martin van Alonso. Alonso stuurde op zijn beurt een beetje naar links en daardoor was er minder ruimte voor de aanstormende Alpine. De stewards hebben aan de hand van deze momenten dan ook besloten om geen straf uit te delen.

Ocon beweerde schaamteloos dat hij geen overstuur had. Hij loog met de bedoeling om Alonso een straf aan te naaien. Ocon is en blijft een geniepig manneke.
Zoals gezegd ging Alonso ook niet helemaal vrijuit. Die stuurde echt wel naar binnen.
Mee eens dat er geen straf uitgedeeld is.
