Horner ontkent radicale veranderingen: "Lastig om ons te verbeteren"

Het team van Red Bull Racing heeft de touwtjes in de Formule 1 momenteel stevig in handen. De Oostenrijkse renstal heerst en het lijkt er op dat ze aankomend seizoen met radicale verbeteringen komen. Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner spreekt die beweringen nu tegen.

Red Bull heeft dit seizoen een oppermachtige bolide gebouwd. Ze zijn veel sneller dan de concurrentie en ze zijn nog maar één keer verslagen. De Italiaanse sportkrant La Gazzetta dello Sport meldde dat Red Bull voor 2024 weer een nieuwe innovatie heeft ontwikkeld. Volgens de sportkrant zou het gaan om een aantal radicale veranderingen aan de aerodynamica waardoor de wind minder impact zou hebben op de performance.

Ook Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner heeft het nieuws gelezen. De Britse teambaas stelt echter dat deze beweringen niet kloppen. In gesprek met Bloomberg spreekt Horner zich uit: "Als je kijkt naar de stabiliteit in de regels, denk ik dat het volgend jaar zo door zal gaan. We krijgen een veel intensiever kampioenschap. Hetzelfde kan je zeggen voor 2025, voordat de motorische regelementen van 2026 ingaan. We proberen onszelf altijd te verbeteren omdat de concurrentie een deel van onze filosofie zal gaan kopiëren. Dat is iets wat wel zeker is. Het wordt lastig om de RB20 veel beter te maken dan de RB19."

Volgens de verhalen zou het vooral de vloer zijn die een radicale metamorfose ondergaat.
Het is wel duidelijk dat deze generatie auto's erg gevoelig zijn voor 'gusts' (plotseling veel wind op de zijkant).
