McLaren wijst rijdersfout aan als oorzaak crash Norris

Lando Norris kende een ongelukkige race in de straten van Las Vegas. De Britse McLaren-coureur schoot keihard van de baan en hij moest zelfs voor controle naar het ziekenhuis. Zijn team McLaren ging op zoek naar de oorzaak van de crash en volgens teambaas Andrea Stella was is een rijdersfout de waarschijnlijkste oorzaak.

Norris schoot al vroeg in de race van de baan af. Hij raakte in een spin, klapte achterwaarts in de betonnen muur, schoof enkele meters over het asfalt en hij kwam tot stilstand in de tec pro. Hij gaf aan dat hij in orde was, maar toch stapte hij ietwat bibberig uit zijn auto. Norris werd naar het medisch centrum op het circuit gebracht en daar concludeerde men dat hij voor de zekerheid voor checks naar het ziekenhuis moest gaan. Alles bleek in orde en hij kan al snel weer terug naar de paddock.

McLaren ging op zoek naar de oorzaak van de crash van Norris. Teambaas Andrea Stella verscheen na afloop bij de internationale media om het uit te leggen: "Er zit een hobbel in die bocht. Dat zie je ook aan die al die vonken die daar onder de auto's vandaan komen. Ik denk dat Lando zich heeft laten verrassen door de combinatie van die hobbel en het feit dat hij op koude banden reed. Los daarvan zien we ook geen problemen met de auto."

Ik moest denken aan een filmpje wat ik zag van zijn eerste rondjes met dat spelletje thuis op zijn simulator. Daar raakte hij elke muur twee keer per ronde. Misschien dacht hij daar zelf ook aan voordat hij het in het echt probeerde.

Ik vond het toch een bijzondere crash. Leek erop alsof de auto plotseling uitbrak doordat er iets afbrak ofzo. Ik heb het alleen nog niet uit een goede hoek gezien. Het was wel een beste klapper

  Ik vond het ook een bijzondere crash. Heb tig keer zitten kijken. Las ergens dat de McLaren de bodem raakte, maar ik haalde het er niet uit de revs vlogen niet omhoog, wat toch gebeurt als de achterkant wordt opgetild. De achterkant vloog van links naar rechts alsof er een lekke band was of alsof de ophanging achter brak.
  Deze verklaring zag ik niet aankomen.

  Als de ophanging breekt dan krijg een crash als Magnussen had in Mexico. De wagen breekt dan 1 kant uit en kan niet meer gecorrigeerd worden. Hier had de wagen eerst overstuur. Norris corrigeert en de achterkant krijgt weer grip. Omdat het stuur op dat moment volledig naar rechts gedraaid staat gaat de wagen rechtsaf. Norris probeert heel snel het stuur weer recht te zetten maar overcorrigeert en dat zet de wagen in een spin.
