McLaren benoemt O'Ward tot reservecoureur voor 2024

Het team van McLaren heeft een extra coureur aangewezen voor de rol van reserve voor 2024. Het is nauwelijks een verrassing te noemen, maar men heeft hun IndyCar-coureur Patrico O'Ward benoemt tot één van de reserves voor het aanstaande seizoen.

O'Ward is al geruime tijd betrokken bij het team van McLaren. Hij rijdt voor het team in de Amerikaanse IndyCar-klasse en hij is ook betrokken bij het Formule 1-team. De Mexicaan heeft al meerdere tests afgewerkt en hij rijdt dit weekend in Abu Dhabi ook de eerste vrije en de post season test voor McLaren. Vanaf volgend jaar staat hij bij een aantal races klaar om in te stappen als Lando Norris of Oscar Piastri niet kan rijden. Eerder benoemde McLaren ook al Ryo Hirakawa als reservecoureur.
