Horner waarschuwt voor RB20: "Eerder een evolutie dan een revolutie"

Het team van Red Bull Racing is dit jaar oppermachtig in de Formule 1. De RB19 is uitgegroeid tot één van de dominantste auto's uit de geschiedenis van de sport. Men vraagt zich af hoe de RB20 van volgend jaar er uit gaan zien, teambaas Christian Horner stelt dat het slechts om marginale verbeteringen gaat.

Red Bull is al geruime tijd bezig met het ontwikkelingen van de auto van 2024. De concurrentie vraagt zich af hoe deze auto er uit gaat zien en of Red Bull ook aankomend seizoen kan gaan domineren. Maar, bij de Oostenrijkse renstal verwachten ze geen enorme wijzigingen aan het ontwerp. Men is simpelweg bezig met het finetunen van het huidige plan, de regels worden immers niet enorm aangepast.

Marginale verbeteringen

In Abu Dhabi bespreekt Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner de ontwikkelingen van de aanstaande auto. Bij zijn landgenoten van Sky Sports wordt hem gevraagd wat er gaat veranderen ten opzichte van de huidige auto: "Het draait allemaal om marginale verbeteringen. Je kunt altijd op alle vlakken iets verbeteren: de performance, aerodynamica, ontwikkeling, strategie, op operationeel gebied en ook de coureurs kunnen hun steentje bijdragen. Het is nooit genoeg. Dat is een mantra in onze sport: je kunt niets laten liggen. Daar zijn wij zo sterk in geweest: het benutten van alle performance."

Evolutie

Horner verwacht wel dat het volgend seizoen zeer spannend gaat worden in de Formule 1. De teambaas denkt dat het veld dichterbij elkaar zal gaan komen. De concurrentie hoeft niet te verwachten dat Red Bull met een volledig nieuwe auto zal gaan rijden: "Het is eerder een evolutie dan een revolutie. Dit is zo'n fenomenale auto geweest, dus het is eerder een soort verfijning dan een revolutie. De auto zal verder ook nog gewoon blauw, geel en rood zijn!"

Ik ben geneigd het met je eens te zijn amico, maar de MB dominantie (2014-2021 ) was voornamelijk doordat ze met afstand de beste motor hadden, de MB aero afdeling had het daardoor een stuk makkelijker.

Volgende seizoen wordt een herhaling van dit seizoen. Ik geef de rest in 2026 weer een kansje. Hoe ik dit weet? Destijds toen Mercedes aan het domineren was, begonnen ze ook heel vroeg aan de wagen van het komende seizoen. Dat leidde ertoe dat ze nog sterker terugkwamen.

  Red Bull heeft een zeer goede motor, maar de aero is wel de pièce de résistance van die wagen.
  De PU's zijn, nagenoeg, bevroren, maar aan de aero mag uiteraard uitgebreid gewerkt en ontwikkeld worden.
  Het is dus zeer goed mogelijk dat 1 of meerdere teams veel dichter bij Red Bull komen of zelfs gelijk, maar erover, dat zie ik niet gebeuren, maar laat me graag verrassen.

  Mercedes heeft wel degelijk een motor achterstand na de motor freeze, nadat Honda een voorsprong heeft mogen opbouwen.

Aërodynamica nog meer finetunen, iets meer pk's uit de RBPT honda persen en ze zullen nog dominanter zijn. (Gok ik)

  Of de auto beter met de pk's om laten gaan en daarmee nog meer tractie richting het asfalt te brengen.
  
  Meer pk's zal niet gaan vanwege de bevriezing.

Hopen op een ingeving bij de andere designers zodat Max niet een oppermachtige auto heeft en moet vechten om de overwinningen.

Ik denk dat het wel wat dichter weer bij elkaar gaat zitten. Tenminste well qua qualificatie. Maar de RBR19 met Max aan het stuur was by verre de beste auto gedurende een race.. bandenslijtage and consistency van rondetijden.. de betrouwbaarheid.. en strategy during een geheel raceweekend.. fenomenaal.. hoewel het wel een doel zal zijn om weer zo'n seizoen te krijgen.. ik denk dat we dat niet gaan zien.. ik zie zeker Mercedes, McLaren en Ferrari toch weer als race winnaars volgend jaar.. zeker als je kijkt al naar de enorme stap die ze al gemaakt hebben dit jaar.. en alle teams nu toch meer van RBR hebben gekopieerd.
