Horner blij met Ford-samenwerking: "Verloopt uitstekend"

Het team van Red Bull Racing kende dit jaar een geweldig seizoen in de Formule 1. De Oostenrijkse renstal werd met gemak wereldkampioen en begin dit jaar sloten ze ook nog eens een megadeal met Ford. Volgens Christian Horner verloopt deze samenwerking naar wens.

Red Bull gaat vanaf 2026 op motorisch vlak samenwerken met Ford. De Oostenrijkse renstal gaat vanaf dat jaar met motoren rijden van hun eigen project Red Bull Powertrains. Deze afdeling heeft de handen ineengeslagen met Ford en op de achtergrond wordt er hard gewerkt aan de nieuwe krachtbronnen. Aangezien er in 2026 nieuwe motorreglementen gaan gelden in de Formule 1, is het belangrijk om geen vertraging op te lopen.

Uitdaging

Volgens Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner verloopt de samenwerking met Ford naar wens. Hij is tevreden met de werkzaamheden op de motorafdeling en hij spreekt zich uit bij Motor Sport Magazine: "Er is zoveel gebeurd op de achtergrond, met name bij Red Bull Powertrains. Ze hebben gedurende het jaar een aantal mijlpalen bereikt. Laten we ook niet vergeten dat 2026 niet eens zover weg is en dat er een enorme uitdaging voor ons ligt. Natuurlijk neemt dat ontzettend veel tijd in beslag als ik weer eens in de fabriek ben."

Ford

Horner is ook enorm blij over de samenwerking met Ford. Hij stelt dat de Amerikanen enorm betrokken zijn bij het motorenproject: "De samenwerking met Ford verloopt uitstekend. We hadden Bill Ford bij ons in Las Vegas. CEO Jim Farley is een groot voorstander van het project en hij was eerder die week in de fabriek om de voortgang te controleren. Het is geweldig om die betrokkenheid en het enthousiasme te zien. Dat een merk als Ford erbij betrokken is, is een enorme stap voor ons."

Ben zeer benieuwd of ze bij RBPT-Ford een benchmark kunnen produceren, dat zou wel heel knap zijn.

  Ford heeft zelf nooit een torretje geproduceert. Daar betaalden ze altijd Cosworth voor. Hoewel een periode Cosworth ook daadwerkelijk onder Ford viel.

Weet iemand hoe het zit met de budgetcap? Alles wat fors nu doet voor 2026, alles wat audi misschien al aan het doen is etc. Goed, regelement is nog niet helemaal bekend maar alles wat je er nu tegenaan gooit, hoeft in 2025 niet meer.
