Jos Verstappen apetrots: "Belangrijk om te zien dat Max goed presteert"

Max Verstappen maakte dit jaar veel indruk in de Formule 1. De Nederlander werd voor het derde seizoen op rij wereldkampioen en hij won een recordaantal van negentien Grands Prix in één jaar. Jos Verstappen is trots en hij vindt het heel fijn om te zien dat zijn zoon op zo'n hoog niveau presteert.

Verstappen kende dit jaar één van de beste seizoenen uit de geschiedenis van de Formule 1. Hij verbrak vrijwel elk weekend een nieuw record en het was dan ook voor niemand een verrassing dat hij voor het derde seizoen op rij wereldkampioen werd. Hij scherpte zijn eigen record van de meeste zeges in één seizoen aan en daarnaast won hij tien races op rij en pakte hij het hoogste winstpercentage in één seizoen.

Zijn vader Jos Verstappen genoot van de dominantie. Verstappen senior kan geen race aanwijzen als zijn favoriete moment van het jaar. In gesprek met PlanetF1 wijst hij iets compleet anders aan: "Voor mij is het zo belangrijk en fijn om te zien dat hij elke race op een hoog niveau presteert. Na de race ook, dan kan zichzelf echt afzonderen. Hij kan zich dan echt focussen op andere zaken. Soms wil ik hem hem over iets praten en dan zegt hij: 'Alsjeblieft niet over de Formule 1.' Hij wil gewoon thuis ontspannen en het er niet over hebben."
