Norris sluit 2023 af met pijnlijke statistiek

Lando Norris kende dit jaar een goed seizoen in de Formule 1. De McLaren-coureur stond meerdere keren op het podium en hij ontving tevens zeer veel complimenten. Het leverde hem wel een ongewild record op, maar daar hoeft hij zich eigenlijk geen zorgen over te maken.

Norris is op dit moment namelijk de coureur met de meeste podiumplekken zonder een zege. Hij deelt dit record nu met Nick Heidfeld. Beide coureurs hebben dertien keer op het ereschavot gestaan zonder dat ze een race wisten te winnen. Aangezien Heidfeld alweer een flink aantal jaar is gestopt, kan Norris dit record zelf op zijn naam gaan zetten in 2024. Hij moet echter niet in de put gaan zitten, want veel meer grote namen moesten lang wachten op hun eerste zege.

Norris heeft tot nu toe namelijk 104 Grands Prix gereden zonder te winnen. Hiermee komt hij nog lang niet in de buurt van het record. Andere grote namen moesten immers ook lang wachten op hun eerste zege. Sergio Perez moest bijvoorbeeld 190 races wachten voordat hij voor het eerst mocht winnen. Carlos Sainz had er 150 Grands Prix voor nodig, ook Mark Webber (130 Grands Prix) en wereldkampioenen Jenson Button (113 Grands Prix) en Nico Rosberg (111 Grands Prix) moesten lang wachten.
