Jos Verstappen hoopt op meer concurrentie voor Max

De wereldtitel in de Formule 1 ging dit jaar voor het derde seizoen op rij naar Max Verstappen. De Nederlander domineerde op een manier die men nog nooit had gezien. Ook zijn vader Jos Verstappen had iets meer strijd wel leuk gevonden, maar hij ziet ook dat zijn zoon geniet van de overmacht.

Verstappen kende dit jaar één van de dominantste seizoenen uit de geschiedenis van de Formule 1. Hij won bijna alles wat er te winnen viel. In totaal kwam hij in negentien Grands Prix als winnaar over de streep, slechts één keer mocht hij het podium niet betreden. Verstappen brak daarnaast ook nog een grote hoeveelheid records en dat leverde hem veel complimenten op van de mensen die er verstand van hebben.

Strijd

Critici stelden dat Verstappen de sport saai maakte. Zijn vader Jos Verstappen begrijpt die redenatie wel, hij ziet graag dat Max meer tegenstand krijgt. In gesprek met PlanetF1 is Jos Verstappen eerlijk: "Natuurlijk winnen we graag races, maar ik zie hem ook graag vechten om een zege. Ik denk dat iedereen dat wel wil zien. Ik ben een fan van de Formule 1. Natuurlijk is het leuk om 18 of 19 races te winnen in een seizoen. Maar toen hij de titel won in 2021, heb ik er uiteindelijk ook van genoten. Dus, waarom niet?"

Hoe Max Verstappen zelf over deze zaken denkt, is niet helemaal duidelijk. De Red Bull-coureur leeft voor zijn successen en hij is blij met al zijn overwinningen. Zijn vader Jos Verstappen geeft dit dan ook eerlijk toe. De oud-coureur grinnikt als dit onderwerp wordt aangesneden: "Hij vindt dit leuk. Hij houdt zeker van deze dominantie. Hij is echt alleen maar geïnteresseerd in het winnen van races."

Je weet toch dat je al die Max-fans achter je aan krijgt.

Die willen maar één ding.....Max zien winnen zonder enige vorm van tegenstand.......en wekelijks naar de winkel om tissues te halen.....om hun top te reinigen natuurlijk.

Mercedes en Hamilton riepen dat ook, zie wat er van kwam toen het er eindelijk was.
Kommer en kwel, moddergooien en vuil spel.
Hopelijk zal het bij Max en Redbull anders gaan, ik betwijfel het in ieder geval.

  Dat hoop ik dan Schwantz, ik zie zelfs het gedrag van Mercedes als gedrevenheid en niet tegen verlies kunnen.
  Als ik naar Max kijk zou dat zomaar een paar tandjes erger kunnen zijn. Puur onderbuik gevoel.

  We zijn gebaat bij rust in de tent, 2021 is niet vol te houden en Lewis een half jaar van het strijd toneel is niet goed voor de F1.

  Ik denk dat veel fans inclusief mijzelf kapot van de spanning waren na 2021, wat natuurlijk om die reden geweldig was. 2023 is dan inderdaad veel relaxter, maar ik vond het niettemin ook een heel erg interessant jaar, om te zien hoe Max record na record sloopt. 2022 valt een beetje tussen wal en schip. Eerste helft een spannende strijd met Leclerc die helaas om zeep geholpen werd door Toto's regelwijziging halverwege het seizoen, waardoor de tweede helft meer op 2023 leek.
