Horner maakt zich nog geen zorgen over McLaren

Het team van Red Bull Racing is dit jaar het te kloppen team in de Formule 1. De regerend constructeurskampioen weet dat onder meer McLaren, Mercedes en Ferrari de aanval zullen openen. Christian Horner maakt zich echter niet zoveel zorgen over het team van McLaren.

McLaren maakte in 2023 veel indruk in de tweede seizoenshelft. De Britse renstal vormde regelmatig de eerste uitdager van Red Bull Racing. Dit jaar zal er veel gaan veranderen bij McLaren, want de nieuwe technische structuur wordt voor het eerst gebruikt. Meerdere nieuwe namen zijn begonnen bij McLaren, er wordt vooral veel verwacht van David Sanchez en Rob Marshall. Laatstgenoemde komt over van Red Bull.

Bij Red Bull vervulde Marshall jarenlang een belangrijke rol. Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner baalt van het vertrek, maar hij laat ook aan Sky Sports weten dat hij zich niet al te druk maakt om McLaren: "Ik denk dat ze een geweldige tweede seizoenshelft hadden. Er waren momenten waarop ze onze eerste uitdager waren. Ze hebben zich versterkt en Rob wordt een wapen, maar het draait niet om één persoon. Er werken ongeveer achthonderd mensen bij een team en dat moet samenkomen. Met Lando en Oscar kunnen ze een rol gaan spelen volgend jaar."

      Door jou bedenk ik me een vraag: Wordt de Racing Bull... nu een RB1 ? Of mag het chassisnaam niet 2x worden gebruikt?

      De naam van het chassis wordt geen RB1, want "de Racing Bulls" is een verzinsel uit Italië.
      Eerst maar eens kijken hoe het team gaat heten en dan weten we wat de chassisnaam zal worden.

      En RB1 mag uiteraard niet voor de tweede keer worden gebruikt.

      Mooie bedenking. De naam zal me worst wezen want voor mij blijft het altijd RB2 - nu meer dan ooit 😉
      Chassisbenaming daar hou ik me wel aan de juiste benaming 😇
