Horner zet Ferrari onder druk: "Verwachtingen zijn enorm"

Het is de verwachting dat het team van Red Bull Racing ook dit jaar weer zal gaan domineren in de Formule 1. Er liggen wel kapers op de kust, maar niemand weet nog hoe klein de verschillen zullen zijn. Christian Horner denkt in ieder geval dat Ferrari onder zware druk zal staan.

Red Bull won in 2023 eenentwintig van de tweeëntwintig Grands Prix. De verschillen met de concurrentie waren vaak zeer groot. In de slotfase van het seizoen kwamen McLaren en Ferrari in de buurt en eerder lieten ook Aston Martin en Mercedes zien dat ze snel kunnen zijn. Hoe de verhoudingen dit jaar zullen liggen, is nog niet helemaal duidelijk. Op voorhand wordt er in ieder geval al veel verwacht van McLaren en Ferrari.

Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner denkt dat Ferrari onder grote druk zal staan. De Brit denkt dat de situatie daar heel anders is dan bij McLaren. In gesprek met Sky Sports is Horner duidelijk: "Ferrari is een ander soort team, het is een nationaal team. Daar komt druk bij kijken en de Italiaanse media zijn absoluut meedogenloos en ze houden elke beweging nauwlettend in de gaten. De verwachtingen zijn enorm. Ferrari is een grote speler in de Formule 1. De verwachtingen zullen voor hen heel hoog zijn komend seizoen."

      Idd. Horner zet Ferrari niet onder druk. Horner ziet dat Ferrari onder druk staat. Onder andere door de italianse pers.
      Echter, als we heel eerlijk zijn: Dat is als sinds jaar en dag het geval. Ferrari is Ferrari. Dat is een onderdeel van het italiaanse erfgoed. Als je daarvoor rijd, staan de camera's 24/7 op je gericht, is de pers onderdeel van je ontbijt, keuze van kleren en met welke tandpasta je je tanden poetst. Dat hoort erbij.

      Als het dan, zoals nu, al jaren niet lukt neemt de druk alleen maar toe. Op het moment dat een rijder de rijders titel binnenhaalt (wat absoluut ooit gaan gebeuren) dan valt daar een stukje last van de Italiaanse schouders en is die coureur groter dan groot. De beleving van Italianen is ander dan welk ander volk dan ook.

      Dat de druk elk jaar toeneemt ziet iedereen. Berusting zal pas veel later geschieden.
