Norris maakt zich geen zorgen over zelfkritische houding

Lando Norris kende vorig jaar een goed seizoen in de Formule 1. Vooral in de tweede helft van het jaar kwam de Brit goed voor de dag. Toch was hij vaak enorm kritisch op zichzelf. Het zorgde voor de nodige verbazing, maar volgens Norris moet niemand hier iets achter zoeken.

Norris kwam in de tweede seizoenshelft echt tot leven. Zijn team McLaren had een aantal grote updates doorgevoerd en daar wist de Brit wel raad mee. Hij presteerde steeds beter en hij stond regelmatig op het podium. Een pole position of een strijd om de zege zat er echter niet in. Norris reageerde hier in de media regelmatig enorm kritisch op. Hij kraakte zichzelf zeer streng af en men vroeg zich af waarom hij dat deed.

Norris begrijpt wel dat mensen zich verbazen over zijn houding. De Britse McLaren-coureur stelt echter dat het helemaal geen probleem is. De zelfkritiek brengt hem dan ook geen schade aan, Norris maakt zich geen zorgen. Hij doet dit al sinds hij het zich kan herinneren en hij legt het dan ook uit aan Motorsport.com: "Sinds mijn karttijd doe ik dit al. Dit is hoe ik ben opgegroeid en dit gedrag heeft mij gemaakt tot de coureur die ik op dit moment ben."
