Horner maakt zich geen zorgen over motorproject

Bij het team van Red Bull Racing is men hard bezig met de laatste voorbereidingen op het aanstaande seizoen. Maar er wordt ook verder gekeken, want in 2026 verschijnen ze aan de start met een eigen krachtbron. Volgens Christian Horner doet men er alles aan om dit te laten slagen.

In 2026 gaan er nieuwe motorische reglementen gelden in de Formule 1. Red Bull zal vanaf dat jaar gaan rijden met een eigen krachtbron die ze samen met Ford ontwikkelen. De Oostenrijkse renstal is al geruime tijd bezig met het Red Bull Powertrains-project en ze weten dat het niet mag mislukken. Er wordt hard gewerkt en het zelfvertrouwen is hoog, maar toch wil niemand te vroeg gaan juichen.

Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner is het eens met teamadviseur Helmut Marko, de Oostenrijker stelde eerder dat er geen plan B is. Bij PlanetF1 spreekt Horner zich nu uit: "Het is druk. Over 24 maanden wordt die motor achterin de RB22 gesleuteld. In de wereld van motoren is dat een korte tijd, dus er is nog steeds verschrikkelijk veel werk te doen. Maar ik heb er vertrouwen in, we beschikken over de juiste mensen."

Recent gingen er in Italiaanse media geruchten rond over de 2026-motor van Ferrari. In Maranello zouden ze de krachtbron al hebben gestart, Horner wil niet zeggen hoever zijn team is: "We gaan nog niet op de details in, we zijn bezig met een traject. Maar we moeten veel stappen zetten en een inhaalslag plegen. We nemen het immers op tegen fabrikanten met tientallen jaren aan ervaring. Bij Red Bull stond dit project dertig maanden geleden nog in de kinderschoenen. Dus wat we in de afgelopen dertien maanden hebben bereikt, is buitengewoon."

Met angst en vrees denk ik aan de jaren van honda bij mclaren na hun come back. Nu heeft rb de mazzel dat iedereen met nieuwe motoren moet komen in 2026 maar als de motor van rb vanaf het begin even goed is als die van ferrari, mercedes en renault is het wel een afgang richting de auto industrie.... Weet iemand hier hoe het zit met het buget-cap en het maken van een nieuw blok??

Ik luistert bijna alle podcasts en niemand heeft het hierover. Krijg stellig de indruk dat deze mensen niet de moeite nemen om hier flink in te duiken 😫

Nu heeft rb de mazzel dat iedereen met nieuwe motoren moet komen in 2026 maar als de motor van rb vanaf het begin even goed is als die van ferrari, mercedes en renault is het wel een afgang richting de auto industrie. Het aanvankelijke plan was ook om het samen met porsche te doen. Ford heb ik geen vertrouwen in omdat zij niet sterk zijn in het hybride en ev segment.

  Volgens Horner zit zijn team "op een traject", maar is er nog een lange weg te gaan om teams als Ferrari en Mercedes in te halen.
  
  In die korte tijd is haast onmogelijk om het te realiseren.
