Ralf Schumacher wijst Norris aan als grootste uitdager Verstappen

Max Verstappen geldt ook voor het aankomende seizoen als de topfavoriet voor de wereldtitel in de Formule 1. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur werd in de afgelopen drie seizoenen wereldkampioen en hij kan rekenen op veel complimenten. Ralf Schumacher ziet één echte uitdager voor Verstappen.

Verstappen verbrak vorig jaar een enorme hoeveelheid aan records. De Nederlander won een recordaantal van negentien Grands Prix en daarnaast had hij ook nog het hoogste winstpercentage ooit in een enkel seizoen. Verstappens dominantie was historisch, maar de concurrentie was er niet heel blij mee. Ze willen ook winnen, maar bij Ferrari, Mercedes en McLaren weten ze ook dat de regels voor het aankomende seizoenen amper zijn veranderd.

Uitdagers

Toch vindt oud-coureur Ralf Schumacher het lastig om een echte uitdager voor Verstappen aan te wijzen. Schumacher is te gast in de podcast 'Formula for Success' en daar kan hij deze vraag nog niet beantwoorden: "We weten allemaal dat het aan de auto ligt. Pas na de testdagen en de eerste twee races weten we hoe iedereen er op dat moment voor staat. Laten we hopen dat het Mercedes lukt, maar hun performance ging wel te vaak op en neer. McLaren is ook een optie. Ik ben fan van Piastri, maar hij is nog te zwak qua racepace. In de kwalificatie maakt hij geen fouten."

Norris

Piastri's teamgenoot Lando Norris maakt dan weer een compleet andere indruk op Schumacher. De Duitse oud-coureur is ook onder de indruk van Norris, maar hij ziet daar iets anders gebeuren dan bij Piastri. Toch durft hij wel te stellen dat Norris hoge ogen kan gaan gooien: "Bij Lando is het precies andersom dan bij Piastri, hij wil soms te veel in de kwalificatie. Als er iemand is die Max kan uitdagen, dan is dat wel Lando."

  Hij heet Ralf. Hoe moeilijk is het nou om een naam goed te schrijven terwijl die naam gewoon keer op keer in het artikel of de titel staat?
  
  En zoals inderdaad gezegd wordt, met 6 overwinningen en 27 podia ben je natuurlijk geen veldvulling maar heb je een verdienstelijke F1 carrière achter de rug.
  
  Tot slot... journalisten stellen vragen, en dan geeft Ralf antwoord. Beetje raar om daar dan altijd zo verontwaardigd op te reageren. Want met alle respect... maar wie ben jij dan?
