Prost looft kritische Verstappen: "Hij zegt wat hij denkt"

Max Verstappen maakte in de afgelopen jaren veel indruk in de Formule 1. Verstappen presteerde niet alleen goed op de baan, hij stak zijn mening over bepaalde zaken ook niet onder stoelen of banken. Alain Prost kan dit wel waarderen, volgens hem is het goed dat er een coureur als Verstappen bestaat.

Verstappen liet zich afgelopen jaar meermaals kritisch uit over de gang van zaken in de Formule 1. De Nederlander was zeer kritisch op de sprintraces en ook de Grand Prix in Las Vegas kon niet op zijn goedkeuring rekenen. In de gokstad greep Verstappen elk moment aan om de race, het circuit en de organisatie af te kraken. Het kwam Verstappen op kritiek te staan, maar hij kreeg ook steun van kenners en oud-coureurs.

Focus

Viervoudig wereldkampioen Alain Prost is heel erg blij met de eerlijkheid van Verstappen. De Franse racelegende deelt de mening van Verstappen. In gesprek met Motor Sport Magazine legt Prost dit uit: "Ik mag Max heel erg graag omdat hij een beetje anders is in de manier waarop hij denkt en hoe hij spreekt. Zelfs in Las Vegas, waar hij enorm kritisch was, was hij gefocust op het racen en het winnen."

Waardering

Verstappens kritische woorden vielen niet even goed bij iedereen. Hij kreeg kritiek en volgens sommigen mocht Verstappen niet zo zeuren. Prost juicht dit echter toe en hij deelt zijn complimenten uit: "Voor mij is het goed om een coureur zoals hem te zien. Ik was erg blij om te horen dat hij die sprintraces ook niet leuk vindt. Hij zegt tenminste wat hij denkt en hij is niet bang voor het politieke spel. Dat waardeer ik enorm."

    Tsja......waren er maar meer zo als Max die gewoon zeggen hoe ze er over denken ipv een ingestudeerd riedeltje van de pr afdeling.

    Prost had inderdaad ook geen moeite met het openlijk spuien van kritiek; er staat me zoiets bij dat hij publiekelijk vertelde dat "zelfs een vrachtwagen gemakkelijker te rijden was dan zijn Ferrari...."

      Als ik het goed voor heb werd hij daarna onmiddellijk bedankt voor zijn bewezen diensten als gevolg als meervoudig WK. ... zie dat niet onmiddellijk gebeuren bij RB ifv hun "directe" cultuur.

      Er zijn meerdere manieren om je mening duidelijk over te brengen en mogelijk verschil ik daar wat in met Nederlanders.

    Hier zie je ook duidelijk het verschil met McCarthy die aangaf dat Max nog niet bij de top5 hoort vanwege zijn boardradio's terwijl Prost hier juist aangeeft dat het goed is om een coureur te hebben die standpunten duidelijk maakt. Misschien ook het verschil tussen een non brit die op hetzelfde hoge niveau als Max reed en iemand die nooit een F1 race heeft gereden...

    Bij rb kan dit kinderachtige gedoe best leuk zijn maar bij een serieuze fabrikant niet.

    Ik denk net andersom, Max snapt niet wat zijn uitlatingen teweeg brengen, hij is daar niet slim genoeg voor....hij weet niet wanneer hij even niets moet zeggen.
    Dat is hem niet aangeleerd door "de klopper" natuurlijk.
    Die was (gelukkig voor ons) met andere dingen bezig, bv het klaarstomen van Max in de autosport.
