Leclerc op pole bij Formule 2-debuut, De Vries knap op P3

GP3-kampioen Charles Leclerc heeft er geen gras over laten groeien bij zijn debuut in de Formule 2. De Monegask reed een dijk van een kwalificatie en zal de eerste race morgen vanaf pole-position starten. Nyck de Vries kende een uitstekende eerste kwalificatie voor Rapax: de jonge Nederlander start morgen als derde.

Leclerc was bijzonder slim door zijn tweede run op vrijwel een lege baan te rijden. De Monegask, uitkomend voor topteam Prema, was in de eerste run al bijzonder sterk maar vond in zijn tweede run zowaar nog meer tijd. Bij de start van de kwalificatie zag het er voor De Vries niet goed uit: de Nederlander kende in de vrije training al problemen met de Rapax en de auto sloeg af toen het hele veld in de pits wachtte tot het licht op groen ging. Gelukkig kon De Vries snel op weg en deed de jonge Nederlander van zich spreken.

Aan het einde van de training vond er nog een bizar incident plaats: twee coureurs reden op elkaar in de tiende bocht en konden niet verder. Het betekende ook dat niemand meer een kans kreeg om zijn snelste tijd te verbeteren. De eerste race in de Formule 2 start morgen om 12:10 uur Nederlandse tijd.

Beetje geluk met die crash, en jammer van het foutje in de laatste bocht, maar prima eerdte poging van De Vries.

LeClerc is echter een compleet andere klasse, Prema lijkt sowieso nu al onverslaanbaar.

  Cecotto z'n overall is nogal kaal...Sowieso lijkt Rapax weinig sponsors te hebben als ik naar de livery van de auto en de team overall kijk...
