De Vries tevreden na sterk weekend op Hungaroring

Nyck de Vries heeft een sterk weekend op de Hungaroring achter de rug. De Nederlander won op zaterdag de hoofdrace op overtuigende wijze, zondag kwam De Vries als zevende over de streep. De Prema-rijder scoorde 29 punten in Hongarije, meer dan wie dan ook.

Op zaterdag leek er geen maat te staan op De Vries, die goed gokte door met een afstelling voor droog weer te rijden. Zondag was de Nederlander naar eigen zeggen minder competitief, maar ondanks alles kijkt de McLaren-junior terug op een goed weekend. "Blij met mijn weekend en meer dan klaar voor de zomerpauze", vertelt de Nederlander op zijn Instagram-account.

Door zijn zege en zevende plaats, klimt De Vries op naar de vijfde positie in het Formule 2-kampioenschap. De Nederlander heeft evenveel punten als nummer vier Artem Markelov, maar de Rus heeft meer zeges achter zijn naam staan.

De strijd om het kampioenschap lijkt nog altijd te gaan tussen George Russel en Lando Norris, al scoorde eerstgenoemde slecht op de Hungaroring. Russel kwam niet verder dan één schamel puntje, waardoor de top van het kampioenschap een stuk dichterbij wist te komen.

Russel leidt nog altijd met 171 punten, voor Norris met 159. Alexander Albon wist de sprintrace in Hongarije te winnen en bezet momenteel de derde stek met 141 punten. Markelov en De Vries volgen beide op gepaste afstand met 114 punten, maar ook zij zijn in theorie nog niet uitgeschakeld voor de titel.

  1e race was erg goed, daar liet hij echt weer eens zien wat hij kon. Hij was fel in de duels, snel en constant.
  
  2e race ben ik volledig met je eens. Hoe kinderlijk hij achter Mehri eindigde was al tenenkrommend. Dat hij in de laatste bocht zich ook nog de kaas van het brood laat eten door Fukuzumi... manmanman. Veel te makkelijk en naief, hij liet de deur wagenwijd open staan.
  
  De Vries is echt geen slechte coureur, maar niet meer dan 13 in een dozijn. Als je bij Prema rijdt en bezig bent aan je 7e seizoen in de formule wagens (waarvan de 2e in de formule 2), moet je meedoen om het kampioenschap. Russell, Norris, Sette Camara en zelfs Markelov schat ik allemaal hoger in dan de Vries. Wat betreft Nederlands talent zou ik zeggen dat Frijns ook meer in z'n mars heeft.

  Hij heeft het ook niet over een top weekend, maar een goed weekend....en dat was het ook.
  Hij heeft de meeste punten gescoord.
  Race 1 was top, race 2 minder goed, dus uiteindelijk een “goed” weekend.
  Maar zoals een Nederlander is, die beoordeeld hem dan vooral op de mindere race.
  Het is maar net hoe je het bekijkt hè?

  Maar bij Nyck zijn de goede races uitzondering en zijn het meestal mindere races
  
  als je je 2e seizoen rijd in de F2, ook al WSR ervaring hebt en bij het topteam Prema rijd moet je gewoon meedoen om het kampioenschap en niet "af en toe" eens een goede race rijden.

Tweede race was hij weer ouderwets slecht op zijn banden. Daarnaast blijf ik erbij, gezien de prestaties van laagvlieger geleal met Prema, dat hij gewoon constant top 4 moeten rijden in zowel de hoofdraces als de sprintraces.
